DSWD grants cash to 3,074 Mt Province beneficiaries

BONTOC, Mountain Province, -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development has released P6,738,400 for its first cash grant of the 3,074 PantawidPamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)  beneficiaries in the municipalities of Bauko, Bontoc, Sabangan, Sagada and Tadian including Besao recently included in the program.
               
Of the total amount allocated, P6,453,800.00 were given to 2,937 4Ps beneficiaries.

                The cash grant of the  137 others  was  withheld for re-assessment.

                The amount released covers the months of January, February and March 2012 and the amount received by each beneficiary varied depending on the number of qualified children each family has.

                Of the total  2,937 beneficiaries who actually received the cash grant, the municipality of Bauko has the highest number of 1,188, followed by the municipality of Tadian with 777,    Bontoc with 367 ; Sabangan with 336;  and Sagada with 225 beneficiaries. The additional 44 beneficiaries of Besao received the total amount of P104,000.00.

                The program provides each family beneficiary a cash grant of P500 per month or P6,000 a year for health and nutrition expenses and P300 per month per child or P3,000 for one school year or 10 months for educational expenses for a maximum of 3 children per household  as long as they comply with the conditions which are included
in the beneficiary’s Oath of Commitment.

                The program is not a free gift or dole out as the beneficiaries  must meet specific conditions before they can receive cash assistance. Non-compliance to the conditions will result in the suspension of cash grants or dropping from the program.
