Crime down in Ifugao, says PNP

LAGAWE, Ifugao –Crime
has decreased in the province, the provincial police office here bared.
Police reported this
during the recent provincial peace and order council meeting saying crime incidents from January to May 31 this
year decreased compared to the same period last year.
Assistant provincial
director Senior Supt. David Mariano said for the period, 126 crime incidents
were reported in the 11 towns here as compared to 2011 which recorded 238 or a
decrease by 47 percent.
He disclosed there was
a decrease in crime incidents for both index and non-index crime for the period
as compared to 2011.
“This is attributed to
the cooperation of the public, government officials and the civic activities
undertaken by our men in uniform here in trying to win peace,” Mariano said.
The municipalities of
Lamut, Lagawe and Alfonso Lista registered the highest crime volume in the
province for the period.
Lamut had 35 total
crimes, Lagawe-33 and Alfonso Lista-19; Kiangan-11; Hingyon-8; Banaue-5; Asipulo-4; Tinoc-3; Aguinaldo-2; and Mayoyao-1.
For crimes against
persons and physical injury registered the highest.
Mariano said crime
solution efficiency for the period has increased significantly by 23 percent as
compared to same period last year.
