New traffic rules irk folks; not my decision -- mayor

BAGUIO CITY- Residents here are getting fed up with traffic experiments if their complaints on media is any gauge.

Despite this, Mayor Mauricio Domogan asked for indulgence of the public during traffic experiments, as with that done along Harrison road.

We (traffic and transport management committee), are doing our best to address traffic matters and ease bottlenecks specially in the Central Business District, the mayor clarified, thus the need for experiments.

The final decision of the TTMC is still being awaited.      

Two traffic experiments were agreed on during a TTMC emergency meeting. One experiment allowed vehicles to either use the rotunda in front of the Baguio City National High School (BCNHS), go directly to Upper Harrison road, or use rotunda in front of the Baguio City National High School.

Next would have vehicles turn right towards the University of the Philippines drive direction, not using Upper Harrison road. Vehicles wanting to go on the other direction would have to use upper Harrison road rotunda.       

Police set up barriers and signs on routes to monitor traffic experiments. 

Roads previously closed were opened to two-way traffic earlier.

The experiments were also done with the number coding suspended for the holidays, from Dec. 17 to Jan. 4, 2013.
