BSU team emerges champ in Tanay Rodeo Festival

Rodeo Club Philippines-Benguet State University emerged champion at the 2nd Tanay Rodeo Festival held Jan. 20 in Tanay, Rizal.
Major games played in the festival included casting down, lassoing, carambola, steer wrestling and bull whipping.
These games were all related to handling of livestock and other forms of animal restraints.
Minor games included load carrying, beer drinking and soda drinking.
The activity ended with a Rodeo Queen Search.
The BSU cowboys won 1st place in casting down and lassoing, 2nd place in carambola, 2nd place in steer wrestling, 2nd place in bull whipping, 1st place in load carrying and 3rd place in beer drinking.
Likewise, the BSU cowgirls won 3rd place in casting down, 1st place in lassoing, 3rd place in carambola, 1st place in soda drinking and bagged 3rd place in the search for the Rodeo Queen.
Team members led by team captain Meller Nabus were Roxanne Lacuesta, Lou-reiz Lacson, Michael Takinan, Bryan Pumos-an, Mark Anthony Padao, Harmon Nicer, MaricarGaoyen, Marissa Palgue, Diadem Lumerio, Evory Quino, Eunice Habungan and Ronelia Bentadan, all students of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Their coaches are Dr. Jocelyn M. Runas and Dr. Leisley C. Deligen.
The BSU Rodeo team was also the champion at the 1st Tanay Rodeo Festival in 2011, then known as Rodeo RizaleƱo. The Tanay Rodeo Festival is aimed at boosting the cattle industry in the Province of Rizal and the tourism potentials of Tanay.
