Land dispute eyed in DPWH engr’s killing

VIGAN
CITY, Ilocos Sur --- Police are now hunting suspected gunmen believed to be
hired killers who shot dead Sept. 8 in broad daylight an engineer of the
Department of Public Work and
Highways along the national highway in Barangay
Sagayaden, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
Senior Supt. Jemar Modequillo, provincial
police director identified the victim as Arnold Campos, an engineer and
resident of Barangay Tubigay, Sinait town.
Modequillo said one of angles they were
looking into the incident was land dispute.
The victim is presently detailed at
Ilocos Sur 1st district engineering office in Bantay town.
He had been 26 years in the
service at DPWH.
Modequillo said the victim
sustained bullet wounds in his head and
bullet on his body.
He was brought to the
nearest hospital and transferred to another hospital
in Vigan but was declared dead on
arrival.
According to Modequillo, , the victim
was preparing to go to Vigan but the gunmen waited followed
him then shot him at
close range.
Police recovered empty shells of
Cal. 9mm.at the crime site.
