Armed men rob Anglican church

LA TRINIDAD,
Benguet - Police are still trying to identify armed men who robbed at
gunpoint an Anglican church in this capital town last week, the latest early
morning heist here of late.
Four armed men broke into the Church of the Epiphany at km 6 early morning on Oct. 13 and pointed their
guns at church guards Vencio Abatteng and Victor Sib-Aten.
One of the robbers demanded that they be showed where the
church’s vault was.
Three others ransacked the church’s cabinets and drawers.
Although no major items were taken from the church, the armed
robbers carted away P 2,100, a cellphone worth P4,000 and a wrist watch
worth P7,000.
The guards told police, the four fled in different directions after the
heist.
From July to September this year, records show that there have been 374
cases of theft and robberies in Benguet, mostly happening in this capital town.
Being the center of trade, La Trinidad, has a crime incidence of 67.46
percent.
