BAGUIO CITY – Pending approval of an ordinance allowing La Trinidad Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJ) to traverse Buhagan Road and utilize loading and unloading slots within the city, Mayor Mauricio Domogan approved Administrative Order No. 195 series of 2013 allowing only seven jeepney associations for the purpose.
The measure comes as the 20-day experimental
period allowing seven PUJ associations namely BTODA, CADODA, TGFI, LATJODA,
BODA, PPLMJODA and PJODA to traverse Buhagan Road instead of Magsaysay Avenue
has already expired.
Domogan said the experimental traffic scheme
for the said associations proved successful easing traffic along Magsaysay
Avenue.
“Pending the passage of an ordinance to make
the scheme permanent, we have allowed the seven PUJ’s to ply Buhagan Road in
coming in and out of the city subject to conditions,” he said.
As per the AO, the said PUJ’s shall strictly
observe the odd-even scheme; no terminal or staging area will be allowed; they
are only allowed to load passengers on an express type (pick and go) along
Shuntog Road after the pedestrian crossing below City Hall.
Only jeepneys with blue stickers provided by
the city shall be allowed to ply the route Buhagan Road but are prohibited to
ply Magsaysay Avenue.
The seven jeepney associations shall police
their own ranks and failure to comply with the conditions will be aground for
cancellation of privileges.
The mayor also said the slot allocated along
Bautista Drive will be utilized only by BODA members with specific conditions
that they are not allowed to use any portion of Shuntog road.
Another three slots are allocated below City
Hall opposite Rizal Park and will be utilized by members of BTODA, CADODA,
TGFI, LATJODA, PPLMJODA and PPJODA on an alternate and first come first serve
basis scheme.
