BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio
Domogan this week cautioned the public from unscrupulous individuals
representing his office and using his name to extract money and solicitations
from businessmen.
This
as reports reached his office that someone used his name in soliciting P20,000
from a mall here without his knowledge.
“Let
me take this opportunity to tell our beloved businessmen that we do not solicit
money or material things from our constituents,” he said.
The
incident was relayed to Domogan by Cooyesan Mall after a person called them
asking for P20,000.00 in the guise of a solicitation for the Mayor.
“I
appeal to our businessmen, if they receive any call using my name, do not give
anything,” Domogan said.
The cellphone number of the person who called the mall was traced by personnel of the Mayor’s office and upon verification claimed that he is a certain Senior Superintendent Guttierez of Tarlac.

Domogan
said, “the incident proves that there are people who prey on unsuspecting
businessmen to get easy money using prominent people.
“We
do not authorize anybody to ask money on our behalf, we respect our
businessmen,” he said. – Paul Rillorta
