Medalyang
Sugatang Magiting awarded to cops in NPA firefight
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet
– The Police Regional Office Cordillera awarded medals to two policemen who
were wounded in the recent encounter against New People’s Army guerillas in
Bandong Hill, Bontoc, Mt. Province.
Chief
Supt. Isagani R Nerez, regional police director pinned the Medalyang Sugatang Magiting
to PO1 Benido Magan of the
Regional Public Safety Battalion at the Benguet General Hospital in recognition
to his gallantry and courageous stand against the armed band last March 29.
The
same award will also be given PO1 Romeo Fakat Jr. of the Mt. Province Public
Safety Company who was also injured in same incident.
Nerez
also gave cash assistance to families of
those who were killed and wounded while awaiting more benefits coming from the
PNP.
The
PNP will also pay for all burial and medical expenses incurred by the families
of the victims.
Meanwhile,
five other PNP members were also given awards during the regular Monday flag
raising held here awarded by Manuel Barcena, director DIPO Western Mindanao and
internal security operation adviser of the PNP who was the guest of honor and
speaker during the occasion.
The
Medalyang Papuri was awarded to two members of the Regional Intelligence
Division: Insp. Leonard A. Danasen, PO3 Bert T. Dawey, and PO2 Arnold L.
Daisa of the Benguet Police Provincial Office for r successful
implementation of search warrant on Feb. 12, in Crystal Cave, Bakakeng Central,
Baguio City that resulted in arrest of Yunos S. Darang and Hanipah A. Darang
and confiscation of drug paraphernalia and large volume of illegal drugs. The
other two who received same award were members of Baguio City Police Office:
SPO4 Cesar N. Nabusan and SPO1 Manuel K. Chamcan for successful service of
warrant of arrest of top 3 and 4 most wanted persons of Baguio City on Jan. 27.
Barcena
on his message cited importance of coordination and concerted effort with all
stakeholders when working for peace and dealing with conflict. “The rules of
law and the respect for human rights should be upheld at all times while
strictly enforcing all laws and ordinances.”
PRO-COR
supports signing of agreement with Bangsamoro
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -
The Police Regional Office Cordillera here lauded the recent historic signing
of the Comprehensive Agreement of the Bangsamoro between the Government of the
Republic of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
“The
PNP Cordillera joins the whole PNP organization in supporting the recently
concluded signing of the peace agreement between the government and the MILF
that finally ended the more than four decades of conflict in Central Mindanao
with the separatist groups,” Chief Supt. Isagani R. Nerez, PRO-COR regional
director said.
“Since
the signing of the framework agreement on the Bangsamoro, which is part of the
CAB, the PNP did its role to contribute to the success and realization of the
agreement.”
The
PNP, Nerez said, believes that with the
signing of this final peace agreement, genuine peace and order will be felt in
Mindanao.
Nerez
said that “although Mindanao is far from Cordillera, we have several kababayan
in many parts of Mindanao and many people from Mindanao now live and resides in
the Cordillera. It is always our dream and aspiration as peace loving people in
the north that the culture of violence will end in Mindanao.”
PRO-COR wins best enforcement award
nationwide; 8 cops get awards
CAMP
DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet - The Police Regional Office Cordillera recently
won over other regional police units nationwide in law enforcement whileeight
policemen were awarded with MedalyangKasanayan and MedalyangPapuri with guest
of honor and speaker, National Police Commission Commissioner Luisito T.
Palmera here in relation to this.
Palmera
congratulated awardees for their dedication and professionalism in implementing
PNP programs, winning as best Best Regional Law Enforcement Coordination
Committee nationwide and for the competence in combat sports.
Medalyang
Kasanayan was given to Senior Supt. Oliver A. Enmodias for contributing to recognition of the PRO-COR as the best RLCC
in the national level and best RLECC Luzon given by the National Law
Enforcement Coordinating Committee in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
In
the field of combat sports and physical fitness, seven non-commissioned police
officers were also awarded with Medalyang Kasanayan led by female gold
medalists, PO2 Francisca C. Lumatac, PO1 Janice Joy G. Pait, and PO1 Mckeenia
E. Wales while the Medalyang Papuri was given to four silver medalists namely
PO2 Richard S. Aguinse, PO1 Loreta P. Tiago, PO2 Eubert B. Kaniteng and PO1
Rachel S. Vergara.
Their
perseverance to excel in their skills in Arnis was reportedly shown during the
4th PanagbengaArnis National Championship on Feb 22-23 at the Baguio National
High School in Baguio City.
Tipster leads police to marijuana in Abra forest
BUCAY,
Abra -- Some P 2, 200marijuana plants were uprooted at a forested area here in
SitioWengngaweng, Barangay Bugbog recently after a concerned citizen informed
police.
Elements
of the Abra Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group and
Intelligence Branch, Bucaypolice and Regional Public Safety Battalion, as a
result uprooted 11 fully grown marijuana plants, a police report said.
Barangay
Captain Abraham Lumahan and media tepresentative Edgar Tanura, DZPA/Abra today reportedly
witnessed the uprooting.
B’gay execs find marijuana in Balili River
clean-up drive
BAGUIO
CITY -- A marijuana plant around 2 feet, was recently uprooted by police of
Station 2 here along the Balili River beside Pines City Colleges.
Members
of the barangay council headed by Chairman FlorentinoAwingan of Happy Homes
were cleaning the when they noticed the plant prompting them to report
existence of the illegal hemp to police.
The plant
was brought to Station 2 for documentation and burned at the barangay hall
witnessed by village officials and constituents.
“We
are encouraging the public to participate and support the government’s
anti-illegal drug advocacy and in support to the recent memorandum of agreement
between the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Philippine National Police
signed by PNP chief,” regional police director IsaganiNerez said. “There will
be monetary reward for private citizens who provide information that will
result to drug raids and arrests.”
PDEA–Cordillera
inks agreement with CCDC
The
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Cordillera Administrative Region and Cordillera
Career Development College signed a memorandum of agreement Tuesday in simple
rites at the PDEA-CAR regional office in Camp Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The
MOA was inked between Ronald Allan DG Ricardo, regional PDEA director and SherryJunette Malaya-Tagle, school registrar
of CCDC
The
MOA was undertaken to intensify government campaign against illegal drugs and
related activities in educational institutions.
PDEA-CAR
shall aid CCDC in anti-drug seminars and
trainings; and proper understanding of provisions of Republic Act No. 9165,
known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”, and other related
laws and regulations.
The
agency shall investigate illegal drug activities of students in coordination
with CCDC heads and supervisors.
Ricardo
said the signing of the MOA was vital in suppressing drugs and drug-related
activities not only in CCDC but in Benguet.
CCDC,
meanwhile, agreed to comply with Republic Act 9165 and organize seminars on ill
effects of dangerous drugs in collaboration with PDEA-CAR.
Tocino seller nabbed in Baguio City drugs
bust
BAGUIO
CITY – Anti-narcotics agents arrested a tocino seller for allegedly doubling as
a drugs peddler based in this city.
The
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency identified the suspect as Spencer Monzon Cabuco,
40, district supervisor of Pampanga's Best Inc. and a resident of Barangay
Irisan.
The
PDEA said its agents arrested Cabuco in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San
Luis last March 27.
Seized
from the suspect was a plastic sachet containing .5 gram of shabu, which has a
street value of P3,000.
The
agency said Cabuco is included in the list of target drug personalities in the
city.
Cordillera
top most wanted, 11 nabbed
CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -
The No. 5 top most wanted person in the Cordillera and 11 other wanted persons
were recently arrested.
Chief
Supt. Isagani R. Nerez, regional police director, identified the top 5 TMWP as
Reagan Tabbang Gatchalian, 30, of Philex Mining Corp., who was arrested in
Banget Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet March 26.
Gatchalian
was arrested by operatives of Regional Intelligence Division by virtue of two
warrants issued by Judge Marcelino Wacas, of the Regional Trial Court Branch
25, Tabuk City, Kalinga for two counts of murder.
He
was the suspect in the killing of Julie Lamong in 2004 and VerzosaLumigis last
2013 with the use on an M16 rifle.
Other
wanted individuals were arrested following warrants issued by various courts in
the region.
Three
were arrested in their homes identified as Manuel Batallones Bernal, 33,
married, of Barangay Calaba South, Bangued, Abra for serious physical injury;
Thor Balangue Limpayos, 34, of Taya Pappa, Sablan, Benguet for violation of RA
9262 with recommended bail of P120,000 and DanrickPante de Asis aka “Marcial”,
18, of Caritanan, Catabbogan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga for rape with no bail
recommended.
Three
persons were collared at Malcolm Square, Baguio City for theft with recommended
bail of P 2,000 each.
They
were identified as MaritesLagasca Speranzate, 35, married, vendor; Leonardo
Marquez Lagasca, 43, married, porter and Wilma Lagasca Arquero, 40, married,
all natives of Cordon, Isabela and residents of Camp Allen Baguio City.
Two
wanted persons who posted bail after their arrest were identified as Michael
Padua Calara, a resident of Sarok Camp 7, Baguio City for serious physical
injuries; Salvador D. Poserio, 53, of Guinzadan Norte, Bauko, Mountain Province
fir violation of the Omnibus Election Code; Mabini Datol Magellan, 50,
single, and TeodoroDatol Magellan, 53, married, both residents in Upper Uma,
Lubuagan, Kalinga,.
Both
with standing warrants of arrest for robbery with multiple murder surrendered
to Kalinga police Chief Insp. Bobby Glenn Lanigan Ganipac.
Also
arrested were Randy Mercurio Calibuso,26, of Cabuloan, Bangued, who
surrendered.
Calibuso
had standing warrant of arrest for attempted murder with recommended bail of
P120,000.
Man nabbed in Abra post for illegal drugs
SALLAPADAN, Abra – Police arrested
Jerome Ballacillo, 24, here at Barangay Bulbulala for violation of Republic Act
9165 on March 27.
He
was nabbed after tip received by police that suspect on board a Euro Motorcycle
was travelling from Bulbula, Licuan-Baay to Sitio Bantay Maguyepyep, Sallapadan.
Immediately,
police established a checkpoint at SitioSadag, Poblacion Gangal and
flagged-down said motorcycle.
Police
confiscated 10 heat-sealed sachets containing white crystalline substance believed
to be shabu and one strip of aluminum foil placed inside a matchbox wrapped
with a white paper.
Man arrested for illegal guns
BUCAY,
Abra -- Joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation Detection Group-Abra,
22nd Company PNP-SAF, PPSC and San Juan Police Station led by Senior Insp.Angelito
M. Dangli, Jr. and Senior Insp. Joel Kindipan Dumar implemented search warrant
issued by Judge Raphiel Alzate of the Regional Trial Court Branch 58, Bucay, at
the residence of Sonny Boy Espera Ta-a, 36, of Badas, San Juan, Abra for
violation illegal guns
on
March 25.
An
M16,Cal. 5.56 rifle with three magazines and 18 bullets for same caliber were
confiscated.
The
search was conducted in in presence of
Barangay Chairman Drexell Jay Bose and Kagawad Antonio Bengngay of said barangay.
Ta-a
and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to CIDG-Abra for documentation
prior filing of appropriate charges in court.
