 Nerez: Police operations strengthened, arrest on
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Chief Supt. Isagani R. Nerez, Regional director of the Police Regional Office in the Cordillera, said there would nolet up in the campaign against illegal activities in the region with strengthened police operations and intensified intelligence against personalities involved in illegal activities as he reported a series of arrested in the region.

Woman killed in Baguio hospital compound
BAGUIO CITY -- Police authorities are considering a robbery angle in the death of a 52-year-old woman who was found bloodied, and her underwear and pants pulled down, early Monday morning in her house at the BGH compound.

Supt. Theresa Pucay, Station 5 chief of police, identified the victim as Teodora Olique Agapito, 52, of Kibungan, Benguet, and former resident of 14 Purok 1, BGH compound, here.

She was rushed to Baguio General Hospital but died on the same day. “We cannot also confirm whether she was raped because of the appearance when she was found. 

3 locked in Abra jail for illegal guns
SAN JUAN, Abra – Three persons were arrested here Monday for illegal possession of firearms by members of Abra and Regional Intelligence personnel, Provincial Public Safety Company, Special Action Force and San Juan Municipal Police Station.

Judge Raphiel F. Alzate of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 1 in Bangued, Abra issued the search warrants against Nestor Bergonia, Joel Bergonia a.k.a Owek and Freddie Bergonia a.k.a Piding, all residents of SitioGaloos, Supiil, San Juan.

Seized in the quarters of Nestor Bergoniawere One Cal. 30 Springfield M1 Garand rifle loaded with one clip of ammunition, seven clips with 58 bullets and 11 clips all for Cal. 30 M1 Garand, one long magazine for M16 loaded with 26 bullets and one bandolier for Cal. 30.

Siezed in the residence of Joel Bergonia were three bullets and one  magazine for Cal. 45 and 17 bullets for Cal 5.56mm.

Seized from Freddie Bergonia a.k.a. Piding was a GA12 shotgun. 

During the operation, Joel Bergonia, reportedly a known gun-for-hire was seen armed with a GA12 shotgun loaded with three bullets. Barangay Officials of Sitio Galoos, Barangay Supiil witnessed the  operation.

They were jailed while charges for illegal fireams were filed against them.

Search yields shabu in Kalinga; two evade cops
PINUKPUK, Kalinga -- A search warrant was issued by Judge NymphaDugayon-Abbacan of the 3rd Municipal Circuit Trial Court here against ErimarBaligod and Daniel Godayon, both in Poblacion, Ammacian Monday.

Elements of the Kalinga and Regional Intelligence personnel, Provincial Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task group  members of the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station implemented the order.

Seized from the residence of Baligod were shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia, while from the search in the residence of Godayon,  yielded negative results. Both evaded arrest.

A media representative, barangay officials and JovenGodayon witnessed inventory of the seized items which were later brought to provincial police office. 

Mineral ore from Sagada confiscated; two held
BUGUIAS, Benguet – Around 180 sacks of mineral ore loaded in an Isuzu Forward Truck were confiscated here Monday by police.

The truck was driven by Randy ToyokenDaluyen, 35, of Bangaan, Sagada, Mountain Province with his helper Leonil Antonio Mokyat, 28, private miner and resident of Philex Mines, Padcal, Tuba, Benguet. 

Police said the ore came from Fidelisan, Sagada, Mountain Province and was interceptedaround 1:30 a.m. by cops at Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.

Daluyen and Mokya with confiscated items are now under the custody of the Buguias police while charges were prepared agasint the two.
                                                                 
P1M marijuana burned in Bakun
BAKUN, Ben guet – Another P1, 114,500.00 worth of marijuana plants and seeds were burned by police and anti-narcotics operatives here July 26 in Barangay Kayapa.

Police uprooted 25 fully grown marijuana plants; 3,000 marijuana seedlings; 14 kilos of marijuana dried leaves; and 1.5 kilo of marijuana seeds in four plantations.

Laborer caught in buy-bust operation with shabu, gun
TABUK CITY, Kalinga – A buy-bust operation here resulted in the arrest of two individuals Monday around 12:30 midnight in Purok 1, Lacnog.

Senior Supt. Victor Wanchakan, Kalinga police director, identified the arrested suspects as BalwayOggayPalangdaw, 41, and AngbawCulayDaligdig, 35, laborer, both residents of Purok 1, Lacnog. 

Seized from them were were a Cal. .45 handgun loaded with five bullets, shabu, electronic scale, P4,100 cash  and booklet containing figures, dates and amount of suspected illegal transactions.

Lagangilang drug suspect cornered
LAGANGILANG, Abra -- A drug suspect was arrested following search warrant issued by Judge Raphiel F. Alzate of the Regional Trial Court here in Barangay Poblacion July 25. 

Senior Supt. VirgilioLaya, Abra police director named the suspect as Arthur EdaoProgreso, 36.

Joint personnel of the Intelligence personnel of Abra, regional police, Regional Intelligence Unit, Regional and Provincial Public Safety  Company and Battalion and Special Action Force, confiscated 10 sachets containing shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia from Progreso.

P21K marijuana uprooted in Bauko 
BAUKO, Mountain Province – Police uprooted 105 fully grown marijuana plants worth P21,000 here July 26 at SitioGutang, Barangay Balintaugan.

Said marijuana plants are now under custody of Bauko police.

No suspect was arrested during the operation.

3 Baguio ‘gambling operators’ land in jail
BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested three alleged gambling operators at No.1-C, City Camp Central here afternoon of July 25.

The arrested suspects were named by police as Josephine Bayangos Miranda, 41, here of 79 Bugallion, Aurora Hill; Alma Salvador Ong, 48, of No. 1-C City Camp Central, and Manuel Nga-ebAclopen, 43, of No. 152 Camp 8.

 Confiscated from them were gambling paraphernalia and bet money worth P530.

A case for illegal gambling was filed against the suspects who are detained at the Baguio City Jail.

Lumber confiscated in La Trinidad raid
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Sixty seven pieces of illegally sawn pine lumber worth P7,800 were confiscated by police here July 26.
A concerned citizen reportedly notified police on illegal logging in Sabdang, Shilanhere , La Trinidad, Benguet. 

No illegal logger was arrested as they escaped from the area before police arrived.

Farmer held for hacking brother
LUNA, Apayao -- A farmer was held for hacking his brother with a bolo in their residence here in Barangay Luyon afternoon of July 26 after a heated argument.

Jimmy S. Borromeo, 32, allegedly got irked by his older brother, Jupiter, 37, when the latter scolded their nephews and nieces for being noisy while he was sleeping. 

Jupiter was rushed to the Far North Luzon General Hospital while the suspect and the bolo used were taken into custody by the responding police.

Man hurts children who turn over his guns to police
DANGLAS, Abra – A certain Reymundo Pineda Javier, was arrested for reportedly inflicting injuries to his children MaricelAlcantara Javier and Mila Javier Escoto in their residence here in Barangay Nagaparan afternoon of July 27.

Responding police disarmed the suspect who had a bolo in a scabbard tied on his waist.

Suspect’s children later surrendered their father’s firearms which he had been using to threaten them. 

Turned over were a Cal .38 with bullets and 13 cartridge cases,a  shotgun with eight bullets, a homemade 5.56 mm (Paltik) handgun with 13 bullets and long barrel shotgun.

Jobless man enters veggie packer’s room; takes P4,500
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A certain Darwin Ket-eng Bawit, 22, unemployed, native of Monamon, Sinto, Bauko, Mountain Province was arrested for robbing the rented room of vegetable packer Freddie Alicmas, 29, here in Banig, Tawang afternoon of July 25.

Police arrested Bawit following information relayed by the victim’s sister. 

Taken from the victim's room were two piggy banks around P1,500 coins and cash of P3,000.

Tondo woman stealsP14K of  Tiong San customer; nabbed  
BAGUIO CITY – Cops arrested Evangeline P. Sanguer, 37, a resident of Tondo, Manila landed for secretly taking the pouch containing cash worth P14,071.00 of Gina De Chavez Federico, 49, of San Mateo, Rizal morning of July 26 at Tiongsan Department Store here along Harrison Road.

Responding members of Police Station-7 arrested Sanguer and recovered the pouch of the victim.

2 held in Abra for illegal drugs
BANGUED, Abra -- Two persons were locked in jail for prohibited drugs found in their residences here on July 22.
Police arrested the drug suspects following search warrants issued by Judge Raphiel F. Alzate of the Regional Trial Court Branch 1, Bangued against them.

Laura Brazil Alcantara alias Lala, 29 was arrested in her residence at Barangay Ubbog-Lipcan.

Confiscated from her were several drug paraphernalia while Pedro Aspacio Valera, 43, utility worker, was arrested here along Aguinaldo Street, Zone 3 at night.

Alcantara and Aspacio were brought to the Abra Provincial Hospital for examination before they were detained at Bangued police station while cases were prepared against them for illegal drugs.

NPA leader surrenders in Ifugao
LAMUT, Ifugao -- A leader of the New People’s Army operating in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has surrendered to police in Ifugao, the military said.

Lt. Col. Alvin A. Flores, civil military officer of the army’s 5thInfantry Division (5ID) based in Gamu, Isabela, said Jerome L. Lindao, alias “Ricky,” 22, of Barangay Pieza, Lamut, surrendered July 24.

Flores said Lindao is the logistics officer and acupuncturist of NPA’s Team 2, Squad Dos, SamahangPartido Propaganda.

Security guard eludes cops; nabbed for illegal gun
BANGUED, Abra – Insp. Arvin Fabro, chief of police here arrested one Richard Baldos Dolor, 34, security guard of Buli, La Paz town for possession of Cal. 45 handgun loaded with five bullets along Capitulacion Street, Zone 1 July 24 while attempting to run away from cops manning a checkpoint.

Cops search contractor’shouse; gun, bullets found
 PENARUBIA, Abra -- A firearm and several bullets were seized inside the house of a contractor named Joel Reboldela Blanca, 35, of Barangay Dumayco here following issuance of search warrant issued by Judge Raphiel F. Alzate of the Regional Trial Court.

Senior Inspectors Geron Managtag and AngelitoDangli Jr. led cops, elements of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Special Action Force in confiscating a Glock 17 handgun loaded with 12 bullets  and Carbine kit.

Blanca was not around when the search was undertaken inside his house.

 The search was witnessed by the wife of the suspect, village officials Renato Villalva Sr. and Valeriana Mao Baga of Barangay Dumayco.

Marawi native nabbed in Ifugao for shabu
ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – A certain Bulki Pasandalan Pacalna, 23,  native of Marawi City and a resident here of Cipriano Francisco, Rizal Street, Sta. Maria was arrested last week for illegal drugs.

This, after Tegional Trial Court executive judge Anastacio D.Anghad of RTC Santiago City, Isabela issued his arrest warrant.

 Police seized from the suspect shabu of still undetermined value.

2 men arrested for murder, violence in Apayao, Kalinga
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Chief Supt. Isagani R. Nerez, regional police director said elements of the Kabugao and Conner town police including regional and Kalinga Intelligence personnel arrested Joel A. Alinao a.k.a. Jocel at Barangay Badduat, Kabugao, July 21 for murder.

Judge Quirino Andaya of the Regional Trial Court Branch 26, in Luna, Apayao issued his warrant of arrest.

Nerez said Manny Bog-ac Agbulos,34, was also nabbed in his residence at Sitio Bultot, Barangay Suyang, Tabuk City, Kalinga by Kalinga and Regional Intelligence personnel in July 22. 

Agbulos was charged for robbery with violence and intimidation against person as issued by Judge Wilner T. Lammawin RTC, Branch 25, in Tabuk City, Kalinga with recommended bail of to P120,000.

Four nabbed for estafa, one for bouncing checks
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Four persons were recently nabbed in Baguio and Benguet for estafa while one was taken in for violation of Bounding Checks Law.

A certain Maribel Chagwaten a.k.a "Mabel Chagwaten," 36, of Old Market Building, Magsaysay Ave. here was arrested along Yandok Street, Baguio City July 24.

Judge Emmanuel Cacho Rasing, presiding judge, of regional TrialcCourt , 1st Judicial Region, Branch 3, Baguio City recommended bail of P2.1 million for her temporary liberty.

Police also arrested Conception Bacoco Balabag, 57, businesswoman, of Imelda Marcos barangay here inside the Justice Hall, July 18 for eight counts of violation of Anti-Bouncing Checks law through a warrant issued by Judge Leody  M. Opolinto of the Municipal Trial Circuit Court.

Three others were also arrested for estafa: Daisy Bolinto Awayan, 44, native of Buguias, Benguet and resident of Bahingawan Building, Km 5 Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet; Garyzaldy Cordova  Guieb, 43, beautician, of New Lucban, Baguio City and Gaspar Dumalnog Kindipan, 58, farmer a resident of Diffun, Quirino.

2 jailed for robbery with violence
BAGUIO CITY – Two men identified as Marvin Marty Panis, 18, a resident of North Sanitary Camp, Baguio City, and Ace Carlo Dugya-en Mendoza, 20, a resident of South Sanitary Camp, here  were detained for a case of  robbery with violence with a recommended bail bond of P100,000.00 each.

Both were still in jail at press time for failure to pay bail.

Medical missions held
inTadian, Sagada
TADIAN, Mountain Province –  Medical mission were recently held in this town and Sagada, both in the province.

Here, more than 120 persons benefitted from joint optical mission of the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, PNP-Special Action Force and optometrists from Baguio Pines City Lions Club June 26 in Barangay Masla.

Members of regional police unit headed by Dr. Ruth Anne Balaoas and Tadian led by Senior Insp. Philiip M. Liwan organized beneficiaries for registration followed by information dissemination on the optical mission.

Optometrists Jun Dizon and Lay-abenTamali with staff from Baguio Pines City Lions Club conducted eye checkups and distributed eye glasses.

Mostly senior citizens benefited from the mission.

Supt. Andrew DiwayanCayad, deputy provincial director for administration, led police in assisting beneficiaries.

This optical mission coincided with medical and dental outreach in Aguid, Sagada July 19.

The event was participated in by Regional Health Service headed by Chief Inspectors Jerry A. Aragon and Jun O. Evangelista, Mt. Province  PPSC,  SAF medical team and local government unit of Aguid.

The event benefited 151 persons. Sagada Mayor Eduardo Latawan, Jr. and Domingo Kelly, Aguid village chief assisted in the event.

15 nabbed for various crimes in Cordillera
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -- Fifteen wanted persons were recently apprehended in their residences in the Cordillera.

Police identified them as  Harry Ugayon Argayan, 50, widow, of Banengbeng, Sablan, Benguet, for rape; Regina Tenoso Pita, 31, sales supervisor, of Sto. Nino, Baguio City, for grave oral defamation and Jaypee Lubuagan Banao, 24, a resident of Purok 2, Kias, Baguio City  for high grading.

Also arrested were Ariel Biendima Apolonio, 21, farmer of Sitio Lingsad of Riang, Peñarrubia, Abra, for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide with slight physical injuries and damage to property and Maxton Saldo Balikid, 20, farmer, of Pacda, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet for illegal drugs.


Five more were jailed: Robert Salang-oy Dalutag, 45, farmer, of San Francisco, Dagupan West, Tabuk City, Kalinga, for arson; Reynaldo Ada-ol, 32, farmer of Bagumbayan, Tabuk, Kalinga, for carnapping; Meya-Lynn Wansi Gac-Oy, 33, of Bulanao, Tabuk City for bouncing checks; Brendisi Casil Mendoza, 65, of Lower Modesta St., Mines view barangay Baguio City, for concubinage and Raul Ambog Carbonnel, 34, of Dagupan West, Tabuk City for physical injuries and damaged to property through reckless imprudence.
