Kalinga readies for 20th foundation day, Ullalim fest

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Final preparations
are underway for the 20th founding
anniversary of the province and Ullalim festival set Feb. 14-18 with the theme “Kalinga at 20: A Legacy of
Peace and Unity”.
The focus of activities is repeat of
spectacular “Awong Chi Gangsa” or Sound of a Thousand Gongs, this time
doubling participants to two
thousand or more with special participation of schools,
municipalities and this city.
The Call for a Thousand Gong committee has
already got the approval of the Guinness World Book of Records to document the
show.
Other highlights of the week-long event are trade and industrial fair from Feb.
9-18; Ullalim Mountain Bike Challenge from Tabuk City to Awichon Village in
Lubuagan on the 13th; agro-tourism fair from Feb. 14-18, and white water rafting and village hopping.
Feb. 14 is anniversary day to start with
grand civic and float parade followed by
program at sports center, cultural presentations, Globe Telecom Bingo
Bonanza, and Search for Miss Kalinga 2015 in the evening.
Feb. 15 is Family Day with masses at churches
followed by acrobatic, magic and dog show at Capitol gym with Globe Telecom
sponsoring a concert
On the 16th will be the Municipalities and
City Day and “Awong Chi Gangsa” to start with a cultural parade, a program,
cultural presentations, and Governor’s Night at Capitol Park.
Feb. 17 is School’s Day to start with
secondary schools parade and street dancing, drum and lyre competition, the
Laga show and another concert.
Feb. 18 is Farmers and Cooperatives Day also
with parade, a program, and continuation of cultural presentation.
