P3.6 marijuana uprooted in Bakun
BAKUN, Benguet -- Marijuana plants worth P3.6 million were uprooted by police at Barangay Kayapa here last week.

Regional police director Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez said personnel of Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group, Regional Public Safety Battalion, Benguet Provincial Public Safety Company, Kapangan Municipal Police Station Regional Intelligence personnel of Ilocos regional police earlier gathered at barangays Gadang and Sayangan  of Kapangan, Benguet and Barangay Sapda-an in Santol, La Union on Jan. 22 to eradicate marijuana plants.

Senior Insp. Melenium B. Bantas, led the team that uprooted and burned on site 18,200 fully grown marijuana plants worth P3,640,000 was planted at six sites  in Barangays Gadang and Sayangan.

Chief Supt. Isagani Nerez, Cordillera police director said  illegal plants were burned on site with a few taken as evidence.

No cultivator was arrested during the raid.

Four men caught stealing gold ore
ITOGON, Benguet -- After arresting four men for allegedly stealing gold ore and other items at Benguet Mining Corporation here Jan. 23, another three men were arrested for the same offence.

Senior Supt. Rodolfo Azurin, Benguet police director identified the suspected gold thieves  as: Daniel Gumpad Sangoy, 19, of Tinglayan, Kalinga; Johnson Balatibat Salas, and Devon Mandiging Anggaco, both 24 and natives of Tabuk, Kalinga. All were residents of Purok 7 Kias, Baguio City.

A security guard of the mining company caught the suspects carrying sacks of alleged gold ore and other items at 421 Vein, PSLT contract area, L-1500, Acupan, Virac, Itogon, Benguet that afternoon.

Itogon police also confiscated cap lamps, one moil bar one sledge hammer from the suspects aside from alleged gold ore.

Malibcong bocap nabbed for illegal gun
MALIBCONG, Abra -- The incumbent barangay captain of Gacab here was locked up in jail after he was nabbed in a checkpoint along the Abra-Kalinga road in Gaddani, Tayum town.

Police personnel of the 1st Maneuver Company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion, arrested Marlon Bayudang Danao, 49,  resident of Gacab, Malibcong, Abra  after he was intercepted aboard a red Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck with plate number TCV 543 driven by Marlon Bayudang Danao.

 Police found a Cal.45 pistol loaded with five bullets without documents in the barangay chief’s possession.

2 making trouble at Paracelis basketball court arrested
PARACELIS, Mountain  Province – A man was arrested for carrying an illegal gun at the basketball court of the Paracelis National High School here at Sitio Marat, Poblacion Jan. 26. 

Prior to his arrest, suspect Elmo Bongan Bangguiao, 22, farmer and resident of Sitio Calao, Bantay here and unidentified back rider wereaboard  a motorcycle creating noise and disturbing people in vicinity of  the basketball court.

A bystander cautioned them causing the suspect to be irritated. Armed with a gun he challenged everybody in the area causing them to beat and disarm him.

Responding local police and those from Regional Intelligence Division arrested the suspect and confiscated a Cal. 38 pistol loaded with five bullets.

A case for illegal firearm was lodged against both suspects.

14-year-old kid nabbed for rape
AGUINALDO, Ifugao – A 14-year-old minor was arrested in his residence here at Barangay Talite Jan. 21 by local police and those from nearby Alfonso Lista town for rape.

Provincial police director Senior Supt. John Colinio said the minor was arrested after warrant was issued against him by Judge Rufus Malecdan Jr. of Regional Trial Court Branch 15 of Alfonso Lista.

Painter/butcher arrested for carnapping in Baguio
BAGUIO CITY – Police nabbed an alleged carnapper here at Lower Qurino Hill night of Jan. 20.

Baguio City police director Senior Supt. Rolando Miranda said suspect Clark Duque Borce, 36, a painter and butcher was the top most wanted person in the city.

He was arrested by members of police Station 2.

Bail bond of P180,000 was approved by Judge Edilberto T. Claravall of the RTC Branch 60 for his temporary liberty.

Businessman arrested in Baguio work place
BAGUIO CITY – A man charged for violation of Republic Act 7610 identified as John Velasco Guiab, 43, businessman, of Ramon, Isabela, was nabbed in his working place at Lopez Jaena, Aurora Hill here by cops of Station 6 Jan. 17.

Judge Ivan Kim B. Morales, judge of RTC Branch 59, Baguio City recommended a bail of P80,000 for his temporary liberty.

Woman nabbed for estafa
BAGUIO CITY – A woman charged for estafa identified as Ellen BagkilaTominoy, 45, of Bineng Tuding, Itogon, Benguet was arrested at the Land Transportation Office Compound here Jan. 20 by members of Regional Intelligence Division and Police Station 3.

Judge Rose Mary R. Medina, presiding judge of RTC Branch 7, Baguio City recommended bail of P200,000 for her temporary liberty.

Ladies wanted for estafa, theft nabbed in Candon police station
CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – Two ladies wanted for estafa and theft were caught by police from Station 7 in Baguio city here last week.

Suspects were identified as Lolita De Los Reyes and Raquel De La Cruz, wanted for crimes respectively, both residents of San Fabian, Pangasinan were caught inside the Candon police station.

Judges Cecilia Corazon Archog, of RTC Branch 6, and Rose Mary Molina Alim, RTC Branch 7, both of Baguio City recommended bail of P100,000 and P50,000 respectively for their temporary liberty.

Apayao most wanted persons cornered
KABUGAO, Apayao -- Provincial police director Senior Supt. Robert Gallardo said two most wanted persons in the municipalities of Kabugao and Pudtol in the province were arrested last week.

He identified one of them as Taruc Culdong, 36, of Barangay Dagara, Kabugao, Apayao, who was charged for murder and arrested in Poblacion, Kabugao Jan. 27.

The other was a minor wanted inPudtol, charged for frustrated murder and was arrested in his residence at Upper Maton, Pudtol Jan. 21, by local cops.

Judge Quirino Andaya, of RTC Branch 26 of Luna town issued warrants of arrest for both suspects.

Miner cornered for highgrading, lady for estafa
ITOGON, Benguet -- Provincial police director Senior Supt. Rodolfo Azurin reported the arrest of Marvin Dela Cruz Mico, 25, private miner, resident of Camp 3, Acupan, Virac here for highgrading and Jennifer Kipot Cuyan, 40, a resident of  Benalian Poblacion, here for estafa case.

Suspects were arrested Jan. 26 and 21 respectively.

Judges Jose S.Encarnacion, presiding Judge of MTC, Itogon, Benguet and  Edgardo De Rivera Jr. of RTC Branch 10 of La Trinidad, Benguet recommended bail of P8,000 for Cuyan while no bail was approved for Cuyan.

Most wanted person in Trinidad arrested
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The top most wanted person in this capital town charged for violation of Republic Act 9262 identified as Jacinto De Mesa Lapuz, 50, of Barangay Balili here was arrested along km 5 Pico Jan. 27.

Judge Francis Buliyat, RTC Branch 9, recommended bail of P80,000 for his temporary liberty.

Army man nabbed for assault, another for rape
TABUK CITY -- Provincial police director Senior Supt. Victor Wanchakan reported the arrest of two men here last week for assault and rape respectively.

Wanchakan identified one as PFC Lasam Ongyao Dangiwan, 26, army member assigned in Abra, and native here who was charged for two counts of direct assault and was arrested in front of Maseypan Lodge, Dagupan Centro here Jan. 20.

Thomas TinongJr, 26, of Amlao, Tabuk City charged for rape meanwhile surrendered to police on Jan. 27.

Judges Victor Dalanao of the MTCC and Marcelino Wacas of the RTC, both of  2nd Judicial Region of Tabuk City recommended bail bond of P12,000 and P120,000 respectively.

Nerez: 29 other wanted persons nabbed in Cordillera
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Twenty nine other wanted persons were arrested in the Cordillera last week.

Regional police director Chief Supt.Isagani Nerez bared this saying  information and reports from the public helped police make accurate description and profiling of criminals leading to their arrest.

“More cases were solved, more criminals were arrested while more crimes were prevented,” he said.“We are assuring the public that Cordillera police force are working 24/7 and will not rest until these criminals are arrested and put behind bars to give due justice to innocent victims and their families.”

PDEA-CAR in need of chemist, lab technician
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Administrative Region is in need of a chemist and a laboratory technician. 

To qualify, an applicant for Chemist I must be a degree holder in chemistry and a registered chemist. 

 An applicant for laboratory technician II must have completed at least two years of college and should have passed the Civil Service sub-professional examination.  He must also have one year experience with four hours of relevant training.

Documents to be submitted are application letter, completely filled-out Civil Service Commission personal data sheet, transcript of records, diploma, CSC eligibility or Professional Regulation Commission issued board certificate, clearances (barangay, National Bureau of Investigation, police, Municipal Trial Court, Regional Trial Court, Prosecutor) and National Statistics Office-issued birth certificate.

Application letters for Chemist I must be addressed to PDEA undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. CESE, director general, PDEA.

Application letters for laboratory technician II must be addressed to Dir. Ronal Allan DG Ricardo , MGM, CESE, regional director, PDEA-CAR.

Young pusher busted with P425,000 marijuana bricks
 BAGUIO CITY -- Anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR) apprehended a young farmer for dealing marijuana bricks here worth around half a million pesos night of Jan. 23.

Arnulfo Dayawen Sacla, single, 22, of Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet was arrested along Governor Pack Road, Barangay Session Road for selling marijuana bricks to a PDEA agent who acted as buyer.

The marijuana bricks, weighing around 5,000 grams, were  concealed in brown carton with several chayote fruits. Confiscated from the suspect aside from the dangerous drugs were buy-bust money, a mobile phone used for the transaction and another brown carton containing two wooden marijuana bricks and sliced chayote.

Sacla will be facing a case for illegal drugs.

He is now detained at Baguio City Jail.

The confiscated illegal drugs were valued at P425,000. 

The arrest of Sacla came a few days after PDEA-CAR destroyed a marijuana brick manufacturing facility in Kibungan, Benguet.

13 cops awarded during PNP foundation day rites
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Thirteen personnel of the Police Regional Office here were cited for accomplishments during 24thPNP foundation day celebration here Monday morning.

Retired police director Villamor A. Bumanglag graced the occasion as guest of honor and speaker.

 The program was highlighted with awarding of 13 personnel.  10 Medalyang Kagalingan were awarded to Senior Insp. Rafael Tangonan, PO3  Rodolfo Guzman, PO3 Bernabe Patang Jr, and police officers 2 Abraham Ayaman, Reymar Batara, Jaylord Caddawan, Narciso Gumidam, Silverio Manggad, Maynard Paranada and PO1 Frederick Rumbaua.

Meanwhile, certificate of merit was awarded to Benguet Police Provincial Office for being rated No. 1 in annual unit performance evaluation rating for police provincial offices for 2014.

The award was received by Benguet police director Senior Supt. Rodolfo Azurin.

Same award was also bestowed to Baguio City Police Office for beingNo. 2 duly received by the OIC Senior Supt. Rolando Miranda.

Mountain Province provincial police office was No. 3 with award received by Senor Supt. Oliver Enmodias.

Former army man’s house searched for drugs
SALLAPADAN, Abra -- A retired enlisted personnel of the Philippine Army was arrested during implementation of search warrant here in his house here at Barangay Naguillan Jan. 23.

Provincial police director, Senior Supt.Albertlito Garcia identified the drug suspect as Ricardo Marshial Torres, 57 who was subject of search warrant for illegal drugs.

No drugs were taken from the suspect in his possession by the united force of the Regional and Abra Intelligence personnel, members of the Special Action Force (SAF), PPSC and Sallapadan MPS.

No illegal drug paraphernalia was taken from the suspect except for a bullet for Cal. 38.
