P’sinan power coop worker gunned down

SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan – An employee of the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Abanon here Monday.

Jose Viray, 40, of Barangay Dorongan Punta, Managatarem town, died at the scene.

Police said the killing could be politically motivated as the victim’s brother, who planned to run in the next barangay election, was also shot dead in the same area early this month.

Police said they are still investigating and trying to get evidence against suspects.

This town had been recently rocked by rise in crime making residents urge police to increase police patrols and visibility. – Eva Visperas
