Tuba vehicular accident injures 6
TUBA,
Benguet -- Six people were injured afternoon of May 24 in a vehicular accident here
at Sitio Bisong, Cabuyao.
Fire
officer Peter Cuh-ing said the accident involving a Ford Echo sports car
happened while the victims were on their way to
the famed "Sitio La
Presa"(sitioPungayan, Cabuyao) in
the television series “Forever more.”
The
lady driver reportedly encountered a problem while negotiating a sharp curve
going up due to foggy weather causing the vehicle to fall into approximately 50
meters ravine.
The
victims were identified as Felicidad Goncayco
Lopez, 38; Lilibeth Sevilla, 54; Ian Gabriel Goncayco Lopez, 9; Elsie Lopez,
44; Carolina Lopez Santos,50 and Jennifer Garcia – all residents of Quezon
City, were immediately rushed by
responders to the Baguio General
Hospital and Medical Center.
Responders
included personnel from the EMS, Bureau
of Fire Protection and Philippine National Police -Tuba, Community volunteers

P122K shabu confiscated; 2 nabbed in
Buguias, 2 in Abra
CAMP
DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Four Individuals were arrested after
a buy-bust operation and search warrant implementation in the province of
Benguet and Abra that resulted in the confiscation of illegal
drugs and other drug paraphernalia in their possession.
Regional
police director Chief Supt. Isagani R. Nerez identified the arrested alleged
drug couriers as Lucrecia Madanes Sibayan, 42 and Naty Tinggaan Bentadan,
37, both residents of Loo, Buguias, Benguet.
They
were arrested at about 9:20 a.m. on June 2 at Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.
Confiscated
from them were “shabu” valued at P122,400, two cell phones, P6,000
buy-bust money.
In
Abra, two persons were also arrested at Senen St, Zone 6, Bangued, Abra,
also around 7 p.m. on June 2 which resulted in confiscation of shabu.
Suspects
were identified as ChrismarkBlanes a.k.a. Bakal, of legal age
and RubymayViadoBuyag, 30, of Senen St.
Cases
for illegal drugs were prepared against the suspects who are now in jail.
5 arrested in Baguio City drug den raid
BAGUIO
CITY -- Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents raided a drug den here at
Lower Quirino Hill night of May 31 that led to arrest of five persons.
The
raid was conducted after search warrant was issued by Judge Reynaldo Alhambra
of Regional Trial Court Branch 53, Manila.
Confiscated
were 1,016.2317 grams of marijuana dried leaves, six sachets of methamphetamine
hydrochloride weighing 3.1072 grams and 18 tablets of diazepam weighing 3.0637
grams.
Arrested
during the operation wereAnnabell Del Rosario Atienza, 41, micro financing
officer and a resident of Lower Quirino Hill and her common-law husband Robert
Manalili David, 26.
PDEA
agents also arrested Anthony Ringor Castillo, 37 of General Lim; Joel
MijicaEspina, 33 of Lower Pinget and ReymonYasis Sarmiento, 31, taxi driver and
a resident of Pinsao Proper.
A
PDEA report said Atienza and David were the drug den maintainers and members of
a notorious drug group operating in Baguio City and La Trinidad, Benguet.
Castillo
is reportedly also a member of another drug group that also operates in Baguio
City and La Trinidad, Benguet while Espina and Sarmiento were visitors of the
drug den.
PDEA
operatives also seized several drug paraphernalia such as improvised pipes and
filters, lighters, improvised tooters, scissors, aluminum foils, butane
burners, a shisha and a digital weighing scale.
The
suspects now detained at the Baguio City Jail, are facing cases for violation
of Republic Act No. 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of
2002.
Man wanted for burning house in
Paracelis nabbed
PARACELIS,
Mountain Province – Police arrested a man here last week for burning the house
of a certain Alma B. Mabunot at SitioBadok, Poblacion Nov. 5, 2014.
This,
after warrant of arrest or arson was issued by Judge Sergio Angnganay, Jr of
Branch 36, Regional Trial Court in the province against Joey Baniasen Chumilang,
32, of Dagawe, Poblacion.
Police
said witnesses identified Chumilang and a case was filed against the suspect at
said court in Bontoc, Mountain Province.
Chumilang
was arrested at his mother’s house at Poblacion after his whereabouts were
denied by relatives.
It
was later known the suspect was inside sleeping when police arrested him. Bail
for his temporary liberty was set by the court at P30,000. – Roger Sacyaten
Man wanted for robbery with homicide
arrested
NATONIN,
Mountain Province – A certain Ariel Managat Balunsit 25, resident of Barangay
Saliok here was nabbed last week for robbery with homicide Andrew Dulnuan,
presiding judge of RTC Branch 31, Quirino issued warrant for his arrest.
The
suspect, along with others, reportedly committed the crime in Quirino.
Balunsit
was later known to be from Paracelis, Mt Province and a case was filed against
him.
The
suspect hid from one place to another to evade arrest. However, a civilian
asset tipped off police on his whereabouts.
Paracelis
and Natonin police arrested the suspect at Saliok, the last barangay of Natonin
towards Paracelis.
No
bail was recommended for him. – Roger Sacyaten
PRO-COR distributes 32 motorcycles to
field offices
LA
TRINIDAD, Benguet -- To improve services in responding to incidents, the Police
Regional Office – Cordilleradistributed32 motorcycles to police offices in the
region May 25.
Under
the Philippine National Police “capability enhancement program,” 32 units of
135cc Kawasaki Rouser motorcycles were allotted to policeoffices.
Following
blessing of each unit, motorcycles were turned over to provincial and city PNP
directors here Monday at Camp
Dangwa.
Eleven
units were given to Abra, twotoApayao, seven
to Baguio, five to Benguet, Ifugao, 3;
Mountain Province , 3, and
Kalingawith one.
Regional
police director Chief Supt.Isagani Nerez, said motorcycles have advantages not
provided by four-wheel police patrol vehicles.
Responding to incidents
is quicker because of maneuverability on crowded streets, small alleys,
and during traffic, he said.
Nerez
reminded official drivers and supply accountable officers to maintain

Benguet police calls on motorists to
observe defensive driving
LA
TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The Benguet
Provincial Police Office iterates its
adviced motorists especially
those not used to Cordillera
region’s mountainous terrain and weather condition to observe
defensive driving.
Officer-in-Charge
Senior Supt. David Lacdan made this call following a vehicular accident along the
Santo Tomas Road going to sitio “La
Presa” (Pungayan) in Mount Cabugao,
Tuba, Benguet last week involving six
tourists from Quezon City.
Lacdan
advised motorists, especially visitors, to observe defensive driving and
familiarize themselves with the terrain in the region which is known to be
tricky for drivers who are used to drive on flat roads.
“They
should also be aware of the weather conditions
in the Cordillera where fog sets
in in some areas even during day
time especially when it is rainy causing
low or zero visibility,” he said.
Most
road accidents are reportedly commonly caused by human error.

Barangay tanods to hold basic military training
HINGYON,
Ifugao -- A total of 176 barangay tanods (village watchmen) from four
municipalities of the province are set to undergo 15-day training on special
basic citizen military training.
The
SBCMT organized by the office of board member Robert Mangyao, committee
chairman on peace and order, will be conducted Fridays to equip participants
basic knowledge on peace keeping, environmental and disaster management.
Major
topics include basic military subjects, environmental protection, disaster
management and response, first aid and basic life support.
The
training will be facilitated by military personnel from the 2RCDG, ARESCOM Camp
Melchor F. Del Cruz, Echague, Isabela.
After
the training, participants are expected to assist barangay disaster risk
reduction management councils in disaster plan formulation and implementation,
identifying evacuation areas in the event of disaster and assist barangay
officials in crime prevention and promotion of public safety.
They
will also help police and Lupong Tagapamayapa in serving warrants and other judicial processes.
