Man arrested for carnapping
LAGANGILANG, Abra – Cops of this province and
Cavite arrested a certain Artienda Aldea Jr. for carnapping at
about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Imus, Cavite.
This, after Judge
Raphiel F. Alzate of regional trial court, Bangued, Abra issued wearrant for
his arrest setting bail of P180, 000 for his temporary liberty.Aldea is now
under custody of Imus police.
Young man posts bail for
theft
BUGUIAS, Benguet – Police arrested Tuesday
Samson A. Damaso Jr., 23, of Bontoc, Mt. Province for theft. The arrest was
made by virtue of warrant issued by
JudgeAmparoMaliniasEspada of the MCTC of Buguias-Bakun, Benguet who
recommended bail of P12,000 for his temporary liberty. Damaso was
released after posting bail for his temporary liberty.
Farmer shoots farmer
TINEG, Abra – A farmer was shot by his peer
here about 3 p.m. Monday at PoblacionAgsimao. Police identified the victim as
Michael Galia Buday, 39, while the suspect was ReynanteBabila, both residents of
Poblacion Agsimao here.
Investigation
disclosed at about 9 p.m. a day earlier, suspect allegedly barged in the
residence of the victim and without any reason shot the the latter twice with a
Cal. 38 revolver. As a result, the victim was wounded on his left forehead
while the suspect fled. Babila is now object of a manhunt by local police.
INC
minister hurt in collision
LAGAWE, Ifugao – A dumptruck driver is now
the object of a manhunt after he encroached on the opposite lane resulting to a
collision with a tricyle resulting to injury of the latter’s driver, an
IglesianiKristo minister.
Police said the
incident happened about 10:00 p.m. Monday along the national road in Attandi,
Cudog here near the eroded area wherein a red tricycle STX Kawasaki, bearing
plate number KZ 6291, driven by Warren Alejandro Puhay, 23, single, minister of
Iglesia Ni Cristo, was allegedly sideswiped by a yellow dumptruck driven by a
still unidentified person.
Investigation
disclosed that the said tricycle came from Lagawe town proper and was
heading towards Hingyon direction. Upon arrival at the place of incident, a
yellow dumptruck encroached lane that resulted in the collision. As a result,
the driver of the tricycle sustained injuries on his left thigh and his
tricycle incurred undetermined cost of damages on its left side front assembly.
The victim was brought to Ifugao General Hospital by the responding personnel
of Lagawe police and is under observation by the attending physician up to this
time. Pursuit operations were conducted against the suspect he was not caught.
Retired cop mauled by
drunken man
SALLAPADAN, Abra – A retired policeman was
nearly killed by his assailant here about 4:30 p.m. Monday at Salideng,
Sac-caang here. The victim was named
Manases Hermoso Layugan, 61, of CalabaBangued, while the suspect was
Jansen Blanza, farmer and a resident of Salideng,Sac-caang of this town.
Investigation
disclosed that the victim went to Rita’s store in Salideng to buy gasoline
and met the suspect who was under the influence of liquor. The suspect, without
apparent reason, pummeled the victim’s head three times with a bottle of gin
but the latter managed to evade further attack. During the said incident,
suspect uttered in Ilocano dialect to wit, "Okinam ta tiruwen ka ditoyen (I will
kill you here now)". The suspect is now under custody of
Sallapadan police.
Taxi driver robbed by
passenger
BAGUIO CITY – A taxi driver was robbed of his
earnings worth P3,500 by an unidentified passenger about
about 11:48 p.m. Monday in PurokOngasan,
Loakan Proper. The incident was reported by the victim named as as Bjorn
Cutiyan Sabong, 36, of Balligi, Kias.
Investigation
disclosed that a lone passenger hailed the victim’s Innova wagon taxi with
trade mark “Cab-owan ” along Magsaysay Avenue fronting Jollibee and requested
to be transported to Loakan. Upon reaching the curved portion of the road, the
suspect alit and while outside, brought out a pistol- type handgun and declared
hold-up. The suspect also took the victim’s Samsung cellphone then fled on
foot.
Farmer surrenders stolen
motorcycle
ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – A farmer surrendered
to police Monday a motorcycle which was left in his custody by an alleged
vehicle thief.
Police said Marlon
EblahanLuguna, 22, surrendered a blue RUSI 110 MC with no plate number,
allegedly left by a certain Jobal Hangdaan at their residence on November
19, 2015
Investigation
disclosed on Nov. 19, Hangdaan appeared at the residence of Luguna and left the motorcycle saying it was
owned by his brother in-law and promised to get it back on the following
day. But three days after, the motorcycle was was not retrieved by
Hangdaan, Luguna brought the vehicle to the police station. Immediately, cops
went on air through Radio Station DWAL
99.1 FM radio station here and at about 9:30 a.m. Monday, Ronald
DausSaguiped, 33, farmer, appeared At
town police station claiming and showing documents he was the owner of the
vehicle. Saguiped said on Oct. 18, 2015, he parked his motorcycle at an auto shop of Pinto, Alfonso LIsta which
he usually does but on the morning of Oct. 19, the motorcycle was missing and
tried to locate it until he heard it over the FM radio station. A case of
carnapping against JobalHangdaan was prepared for filing at the Provincial
Prosecutor’s Office.
Australian robbed in inn
SAGADA, Mountain Province – An Australian
complained to police he was robbed of his money at Sagada Valley Inn View here
about 8:50 a.m. Monday. The victim was identified as James Robert John
Mclellan, 24, who was billted in the inn.
Investigation
disclosed that the Mclellan discovered that his cash of P8,000 which he placed
inside his Nike Shoes was missing. No forcible entry was noted by responding
personnel of Sagada. Case is under investigation.
2 convicted for drug
trafficking
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- – Two
men have been convicted for drug trafficking in Baguio City and Benguet, the
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said.
Rico Galao-ey of La
Trinidad, Benguet was sentenced to a maximum of 16 years in prison by Judge
Danilo Camacho, PDEA Cordillera Director Juvenal Azurin said.
In a decision
promulgated on Nov. 6, Camacho ordered Galao-ey to pay P300,000 in fines.
Galao-ey was arrested
in 2012 after he sold two plastic sachets containing shabu to an undercover
agent in Barangay Cruz.
Meanwhile, Baguio
Judge Antonio Reyes sentenced EdmarBuscagan to a maximum of 20 years in prison
for the recovery of five plastic sachets containing shabu at his lair at Camp
Sioco in 2012.
Aside from
imprisonment, Buscagan was ordered to pay fines amounting to P400,000 for drug
possession and P10,000 for drug paraphernalia.
2 men ‘salvaged’
GERONA, Tarlac — Two victims of “salvage” (a
police term for extrajudicial killing) were found in a remote village of this
town last week, alarmed residents reported. “Their arms were tied, their mouths
taped, and their bodies riddled with bullet and stab wounds,” said a barangay
tanod (village watchman) in the village of Buenlag, who requested anonymity. The
two male victims were found near an unpaved road with the nearest house about
300 meters away. But residents of Barangay Buenlag said they heard a series of
gunshots around 4 a.m. or two hours before the bodies were found on Sunday. --

3 hurt in Abra shooting
BANGUED, Abra -- Three persons were wounded
in an attack here night of Nov. 22 by motorcycle-riding men.
Kennedy Blaza, 23;
SilvesterBiscarra, 21, and Ericson Beronia, 24, were in a tricycle when they
were shot along the Calaba Bridge at around 9:30 p.m.
Police said the
victims bought liquor in Barangay Calaba, where Blaza allegedly figured in a
spat with an unidentified man.
The three were driving
home when they were shot by two motorcycle-riding men.
Blaza was hit under
the armpit, Biscarra in the thigh and knee and Beronia in the back.
Probers recovered
bullet shells for a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
Jobless man stabbed at
Burnham Park
BAGUIO CITY – Police reported a stabbing
incident that transpired at around 3 p.m. Wednesday here at Burnham Park,
Baguio City wherein a certain Robert Fernandez Orcales Jr. 26,
resident of Camp 7 Pias, was allegedly stabbed by Melbin Milang. The
incident was reported by security guard of Baguio Gen. Hospital at around 3:50
p.m. that day.
Investigation
disclosed the victim went to unwind in creime site when he saw and approached
the suspect who was then drinking liquor, since both were known to each other.
Minutes later, victim was about to leave when the suspect followed
and stabbed him with unknown object. Victim was rushed by a concerned citizen
to BGHMC while the suspect fled after the incident. The victim was confined due
to three stab wound on the back of his head and multiple lacerations on his
right palm.
Two sacks of marijuana seized
SUGPON, Ilocos Sur -- Police recovered two
sacks of dried marijuana leaves left by two men they were pursuing in Sugpon,
Ilocos Sur on Sunday.
Case investigator Senior
Police Officer 2 Ronald Sabado said residents of Barangay Banga informed the
police about the presence of two men carrying sacks in the village.
Sabado said the men fled, leaving behind the
sacks when they saw police officers arriving in the area.
Farmer shoots BPI
employee
LUNA, Apayao – A certain Jim U. Cababaan,
employee of Bureau of Plant and Industry was reportedly shot by Benjo Rico,
farmer of Brangay San Gregorio during a drinking spree around 6:30
p.m. Tuesday in Barangay San Isidro.
Police said the group
had a drinking spree when suddenly the suspect went to his motorcycle
and took a handgun then shot the victim on his head. Victim was
brought to Far North Luzon General Hospital by his companions while
the suspect fled after the incident.
Police report did not state if victim
survived.
Ex-telecom employee nabbed
for estafa
SAN FERNADO CITY, La Union – Police have
arrested a 29-year-old former employee of a telecommunications company who was
wanted for estafa cases filed in three courts in this seaside city.
Rainier Mon Frio
failed to post P390,000 bail set by the courts for 10 counts of estafa,
according to city police chief Supt. Julius Suriben.
Frio was arrested over
the weekend at his residence in Barangay Lingsat. He allegedly failed to remit
his collections amounting to almost P1 million to his employer.
Two lady ‘pushers’
caught with P.5 million marijuana
BAGUIO CITY -- A buy-bust operation conducted
Tuesday at Slaughter Compound here by
operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Cordillera
Administrative Region nd Baguio City Police Office Station 2 led to the arrest
of two lady pushers.
Both suspects, whose
identities were witheld were from Barangay Luccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga and
presently residing at Barangay Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet.
They were arrested
when they sold to a PDEA poseur-buyer two marijuana bricks weighing 2,000
grams, marijuana stalks weighing 3,000 grams and a bar of marijuana hashish
weighing more or less 100 grams. The
seized marijuana was valued at P580,000.
Aside from illegal
drugs, seized from the suspects were buy-bust money and a mobile phone. They are now temporarily detained at the
PDEA-CAR detention cell pending filing of charges for violation of Republic Act
No. 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Their arrest brought
to 12 the number of suspects arrested through buy-bust operations in less than a
month according to PDEA-CAR regional director Juvenal B. Azurin.
Scrapper in
critical condition after being hit with hammer
BAGUIO CITY – A scrapper is now in critical
condition after his head was fractured after being hit with a claw hammer by a
construction worker here Nov. 22, at a house in San Luis Extension, Naguilian
Road, San Luis Village. Police identified the victim as Paulino Abing Laquidan,
50 while the suspect was named Johnny Angsoban Pamitlan, 52.
Investigation
disclosed the victim and the suspect after having a drinking session with four
other companions had an argument and the suspect suddenly struck the victim’s
head with the hammer. Doctors at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center
said Laquidan had a depressed skull fracture and a laceration Police recovered
the hammer used and arrested the suspect in his residence same day.
Explosives ignited; man hit
by stone seriously hit
MAYOYAO, Ifugao – A certain Allan Warmer
AbaganGuinid was injured after he was hit by a piece of stone when crew working
on a road widening project detonated explosives Nov. 19 at about 10 a.m.
The victim’s brother
RoffsonGuinid was on board his vehicle while Allan was following him driving a
mini dump truck along Hadchaghan, Guinihon when they stopped due to blasting.
Ruffson shouted the victim to move away from where he was staying, however, the
victim replied that the backhoe blocked his mini dump truck. Moments later, the
victim was taking pictures at the site when he saw a man igniting the explosive
and ran away. After the victim took pictures, the rock exploded prompting him
to run and hide under his truck but he was hit on the right side of his nape by
a piece of stone coming from the explosion. As a result victim fell
unconscious. He was taken by his brother to the Mayoyao District Hospital for
medical treatment but was later referred at the Veterans General Hospital in
Bayombong, Nueva, Vizcaya for further medication.
Filipino-Indian trader
shot dead
DAGUPAN CITY – A Filipino-Indian businessman was
shot dead Nov. 22 by motorcycle-riding assailants in this city.
Sandeep Sam Kumar, 28, was getting out of his
car in front of his home in Barangay Bolosan when he was killed, according to
city police chief Supt. Christopher Abrahano
Kumar, former president of the Rotary Club of
Central Pangasinan, died of gunshot wounds in the head and body. He was
declared dead on arrival at the Dagupan Medical Center.
Probers recovered seven bullet shells for a
9mm pistol.
A special investigation task group has been created
to solve Kumar’s killing, Abrahano said.
Police have yet to determine the motive for

CAMP JULIAN OLIVAS, Pampanga — Newly
installed 3rd Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (3rd CIDG) chief has
vowed to crush criminal gangs particularly Private Armed Groups (PAGs) and
other lawless elements in Central Luzon. Also a lawyer, Senior Supt. Benjamin
Silo replaced the former CIDG chief, Sr. Supt. Ismael Fernandez who died in a
vehicular accident along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) earlier this month.
