night market trader
shot dead
BAGUIO CITY – A woman trader at the Harrison
Road night market here was killed after she was shot by still unidentified men
here at Barangay Queen of Peace Wednesday around 1:15 a.m.
Police identified the
victim as Jalil AminaTantao, 27,marriedwho was shot by unidentified
suspects aboard a motorcycle.
Investigation showed
Jabbar Corpuz Tantao and Faiz Saripada Tantao, also traders at the night market,
both residents of Queen of Peace, saw the victim together with a certain
AnsarTantao arrive at their residence on board their vehicle. Tantao went
inside their house leaving the victim in their vehicle when Jabbar and Faiz
heard a gunshot and saw the victim with blood oozing from heer chest. Jabbar
saw a man wearing black bonnet, black jacket and black pants casually walk
towards the direction of Lourdes extension.
The victim was rushed
at Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for medical attention where she
died around 3:23 a.m.
The incident was also
witnessed by a female bystander who was at that time was buying a cigarette
from a distance. She said she could not
describe the gunman and driver of the motorcycle.
Cops recovered a spent
shell at the scene.

gunned down a village councilman in this town on Monday night.
George Seranilla, 52, died while undergoing
treatment at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Urdaneta City.
A manhunt has been
launched for the assailants.
Maid
hunted for slay of
15-year-old
BAGUIO CITY – A maid is now the object of a
manhunt after she allegedly killed a 15-year-old student Tuesday around 9 to
10:30 a.m. here at her employer’s house at Barangay Pinsao Proper.
Police identified the
suspect MaritesJudan, of Burgos La Union.
Investigation showed
the victim’s brother named as Roger Montero and Arnold Tolentino Usana arrived
home from delivering water to their customers when they met Judan at the
parking area holding a blue bag and hurriedly asked them to ferry her to
the market so she could get her salary from the victim’s mother. The duo
boarded the suspect on their L300 FB Van heading to the market. When they were
about to reach Naguillian Road, Baguio Judan requested the duo to unload her
along the said road. Montero and their driver then went home and saw suspect
and saw the victim at their comfort room lying on the floor with stab wound on
her neck. The victim was brought to Baguio General Hospital and Madical Center
where she was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.
Police recovered the
knife near the pool of blood inside the comfort room. The victim’s cellular
phone was missing. Bagjio police coordinated with Burgos cops to arrest Judan.
Man
nabbed for syndicated estafa
BAGUIO CITY – Police arrested a man here
Tuesday at the Justice Hall for syndicated estafa. Policve identified the
suspect as Norbert Bayani Doria 36, Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City. Doria’s arrest
warrant was issued by Emmanuel C. Rasing, presiding judge of Regional
Trial Court, 1st Judicial Region, Branch
3, Baguio City. Doria was detained on Rasing’s order.
Apayao
businesswoman loses
P80,000 to thief
LUNA, Apayao – A businesswoman identified as
Nieves Bumanglag Viernes, 62, of Maligaya, Dagupan here reported to police she
was victimized by unidentified suspects inside her residence Tuesday night.
Investigation
disclosed that about 10 p.m. that night, the victim placed her sling bag
containing cash collection after selling bananas amounting to P80,000 on her
bed. On Wednesday at about 5:30 a.m. the victim discovered her cash collection
missing from her sling bag and its contents replaced with a pink female shirt.
Investigation revealed unidentified suspect/s used the main door of the house
which was unlocked by the victim as entry and exit.

Tuesday for estafa to a certain Rossini Aquino Pepi, 27, baker, here of
Interior Rimando Road, Holy Ghost Extension,
The warrant was issued
Sept. 22, 2015 by Maria Ligaya V. Itliong-Rivera presiding judge of RTC Branch
5, Baguio City. Rivera recommended bail of P100, 000 for Rivera’s temporary
liberty.
The warrant was served at the city jail where
Pepi is serving time for another estafa case.

farmer arrested
for rape
BUGUIAS, Benguet – A farmer wanted for rape was arrested here Tuesday by cops at
Antopac, Buyacaoan. Police identified the suspect as Arnold SalipanLumbadi, 35.
Sergio T. Angnganay Jr., acting judge of RTC, Branch 64 Abatan here issued
arrest warrant with no bail recommended.
Widow
nabbed for estafa
FLORA, Apayao -- A widow was arrested here
Tuesday at her residence after warrant was issued against her for estafa.
Police named the suspect Patricia A. Sanagen, 62. Presiding judge of RTC,
Branch 26, 2nd Judicial Region at the capital town of Luna set bail bond
of P30, 000 for her temporary liberty.
Kuwait
national manhandles Filipina
girlfriend in office
BAGUIO CITY – A Kuwait national was arrested
here Monday for manhandling his Filipina girlfriend and charged for violation
of Republic Act 9262 (violence against women and children).
A police report said
the incident happened here at No. 10 Purok 2, Justice Village, Bakakeng Norte
at 2nd Floor of EDY Building, Kisad Road at about around early morning.
It was here where
suspect Rizwan Khan Javed, 28, online teacher, resident of Pico La Trinidad,
Benguet allegedly twisted the right arm and locked both hands and feet of the
complainant and after which he choked and humiliated Ana Filipina M. Estepa,
26, administrative and accounting officer, native of Bauang La Union and
presently residing at No. 10, Purok 2, Justice Village in front of her
co-workers.
Investigation
disclosed Estepa decided to separate ways with her boyfriend. However, the
later refused and got angry prompted him to inflict injuries on the
complainant.
HRM
student dies in
suicide incident
BAGUIO CITY – A young man died after
committing suicide at their home here Tuesday around 8 a.m. at Old Site SLU-SVP
Housing. A police report identified the victim as Bryan Angelo Macaraeg
Gonzales, 20, single, HRM student of University of Baguio.
Investigation showed
the victim climbed the steel fence on the front portion of the house then made
his way to the roof using the water tank ladder going to the rear portion of
the 4-storey Clemente’s Apartelle then jumped on the ground.
Responding personnel
of EMT 911 applied first aid to the victim then rushed the same to Baguio
General Hospital and Medical Center where the victim was declared dead at about
9:12 p.m. due to brain injury.
The victim’s
father Ramon O. Gonzales said they observed slashes on both arms of his son.
The victim allegedly drank boiled Trumpet Lily two weeks ago so they brought
him to the BGHMC psychiatry ward but was released after treatment.
The victim reportedly
had two suicide attempts by climbing their house going to the roof but was
prevented by family members.The remains of the victim was brought to BGHMC
morgue.

Cross radio transceiver recovered
from trike driver
BONTOC, Mountain Province – Police recovered
a handheld radio transceiver Wednesday from tricycle driver identified as
Joseph Ceasar Oya-oy Fiaroque, 25, native of Poblacion, Natonin town after he
allegedly took this from the Philippine Red Cross office here.
Police said Veronica
TacbasTactay, 41, provincial Red Cross administrator reported the suspect took
the transceiver radio worth P7,500 owned by
said office.
Police recovered the
radio from Fiaroque. Chelsea FagyanOdchin, a volunteer at the same office, said
that day at about 2:30 p.m., she saw the suspect manipulating the radio and
noticed it was missing later that prompted them to report the incident to
police.
Bucay
electrician arrested
for gun
TAYUM, Abra – Police arrested Wednesday the
municipal electrician of Bucay town here for having in his possession a Cal. 45
handgun loaded with six bullets without legal papers.
The suspect was
identified as Louie AvillanosaTejero, 27. Tayum police said they stopped a
motorcycle driven by the suspect at a checkpoint after noticing the hand grip
of the firearm protruding from a sling bag of Tejero.The arrested person and
firearm were brought to Tayum police station where charges were prepared
against Tejero for illegal firearm.
Farmer,
female companion nabbed
for shabu in Abatan
BUGUIAS, Benguet – A farmer and his female
companion were arrested here Wednesday for allegedlhy having in their
possession “shabu” worth P7,000.
A police report said
Janet Pascual Daplian, 31 and Bryan Pagaduan Bosetan, 28, were nabbed around 1
p.m. on the sidewalk in front of police station here at Abatan Proper.
Investigation
disclosed a tipster reported to cops that a certain “Janet” and “Bryan” were
about to deliver “shabu” at Bacoling Compound, Abatan that prompted police to
arrest the two suspects while passing in front of the police station.
Confiscated were drug paraphernalia and
shabu weighing 1.32 grams valued at
P2,000 from Bosetan, while shabu weighing 2.09 grams valued at P5,000 was
confiscated from Daplian including a black SSK cell phone.
Local
drug group ‘member’ arrested
in sting operation
BAGUIO CITY -- A member of a local drug group
was arrested anew in a sting operation hatched by operatives of the Philippine
Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera last week here along Kitma Road, Bakakeng
Central.
Jeffrey Pamitan
Damian, 32, cook, and a resident of said barangay was nabbed when he sold two
heat-sealed sachets containing shabu weighing 5.0843 grams worth P10,000 to a
Philiippine Drug enforcement Agency
agent.
Damian was previously arrested
during a buy-bust operation on Feb. 15, 2013.
He was, however, acquitted on August 27, 2015 due to inconsistencies in
the testimony of the witness against him. Despite his acquittal, Damian
continued to ply his illegal drug trade, a police report said.
Damian’s apprehension
brings to 11 the number of members of local drug groups arrested by PDEA-CAR
this year.
He is now detained at
the PDEA-CAR regional office pending filing of violation of Republic Act No.
9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the court.
Estafa
case leads to arrest
of female farmer
TUBLAY, Benguet – A female farmer was
arrested here Wednesday at Tublay Central for estafa. The supect was identified
as MarlynPucayAndales, 26.Cecilia Corazon S. Dulay-Archog, acting presiding
judge, RTC Branch 6, Baguio City issued arrest warrant against
Andales recommending bail of P50,000 for
her temporary liberty.
15 persons
nabbed in Cordillera
for crimes
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Fifteen
persons were arrested in different parts of the region the past two weeks for
various crimes.
Daniel N. Mangoba, 29
was arrested in Sta. Elena, Calanasan, Apayao, Monday for grave threat with
recommended bail bond of P12, 000.
Rossini Aquino
Pepi, 27 was arrested in Rimando Road, Baguio City, Monday for estafa with
bail set at P80,000.
Norbert
BayaniDoria, 36 was arrested in front of Caloocan City Justice Hall Monday
for syndicated estafa. Judge Emmanuel C. Rasing of the RTC, First Judicial
Region, Branch 3, Baguio City issued warrant for his arrest.
Norman Pacya-an Ta-ep,
32 of Mankayan, Benguet was arrested Monday for violation of Republic Act 9262
(Anti- Violence Against Women And Their Children) with bail set at P120,000.
Arnold
SalipanLumbadi, 35, was arrested in Buguias, Benguet, Tuesday for rape with no
recommended bail.
Patricia A. Sanagen,
62 was arrested in Flora, Apayao Tuesday for
estafa with a fixed bail bond of P30, 000.
In Atok,
Benguet, live-in partners charged with illegal possession and use of false
treasury or bank notes identified as Sonny Serrano Manabat, 40
andAgustinaGalwanUllagon, 31 were arrested in Barangay Abiang, May
21. Manabat was also wanted for rape in Kiangan, Ifugao with a warrant of
arrest issued by Judge Romeo U. Habbiling who recommended no bail for.
In Pinukpuk, Kalinga,
Jeffrey ItayAgnas was arrested at his residence in May 20 after arrest warrant
was issued against him by Judge Marcelino K. Wacas of RTC, Branch 25, Bulanao,
Tabuk City, Kalinga for carnapping with bail set at P180, 000..
In
Baguio, Noe MamornoBrabante, 52 was arrested in PurokBobon,
Loakan Proper May 21by police from Baguio, Tadian, Mt. Province and Regional
Intelligence Unit after arrest warrant was issued against him by Judge Joseph A
Patnaan of RTC Branch 35, Bontoc, Mt. Province for two counts of rape in
relation to with no bail recommended.
Walter Nicolas
Manguba, 23 andAvelino Nicolas Manguba Jr. 64 both residents of
Calanasan, Apayao, were arrested on May 21 for grave threat with a
recommended bail of P12,000.
RomyQuirimo
Cervantes was arrested in Camp Allen, Baguio City on May 20 for
theft with bail set at P6,000.
Sharon BestogoyKilip,
36 was arrested at her residence in Poblacion, Mankayan, Benguet May 20 for
serious physical injuries with bail of P6, 000 while PobreBalanayCalventas, 55,
retired police officer and was arrested at Tabuk City, Kalinga May 20 for grave
threats and attempted homicide both with bail set at P2,000 and P12,000
respectively.
