Dagupan kids choir wins int’l song fest in Malaysia

CITY, Pangasinan — The BalonDagupan Children’s Choir (BDCC) won the Malaysia
International Children Choral Festival 2016, besting 15 other contenders from
different countries in a competition held last Saturday at the Shah Alam
Theatre in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.
BDCC received the Gold A Grade Award,
the highest recognition being given to a choral group for outstanding
performance; the Shah Alam Mayor Award for being the overall champion; and the
Most Promising Choir (Overseas) Award, in their rendition of the “O
Sanctissima” and “Orde E”, their two winning pieces in the competition.
With the theme “Binding Culture through
Music”, 15 choral groups from the countries of Vietnam, India, Japan,
Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, represented by BDCC, joined the
international choral festival.
Dagupeños
immediately extended their congratulations to the BDCC while billboards
announcing the choir’s success in the international song fest have been put up
in the city.
Mayor Belen Fernandez, who organized the
choir, thanked Professor Adolfo Mendoza and his wife, Virginia Llamas-Mendoza,
for their patience, love and dedication in teaching the children. – JojoRinoza
