JHMC, KBP plant trees in John Hay

  

BAGUIO CITY -- The John Hay Management Corp. officials and workers planted coffee and Benguet pine trees in various locations within  Camp John Hay recently.

At least 100 Benguet Pine trees alternate with 75 Arabica coffee seedlings were planted at Barangay Country Club Village  while 600 Arabica coffee seedlings were planted at the Historical Core, Camp John Hay by the JHMC employees led by President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Jamie Eloise M. Agbayani and their partners from the McKleen and Maximum Security.

“As the steward of about 53% of the forested land in Baguio City, JHMC continues to implement environmental programs which aim to maintain forest density, clean air and water resources,” aJHMC statement read.

            “Being true to its mandate to be the leader of environment and forest stewardship in the country, 38 JHMC personnel and security providers are deputized as DENR Officers which are tasked to enforce environment and forestry laws, rules and regulations within the CJHRA,” it  added.

JHMC regularly conducts tree planting activities in support to National Greening Program of the government. The JHMC plans to enroll the Historical Core and the Country Club Village as NGP sites with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Meanwhile, the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas – Baguio-Benguet Chapter planted 250 pine seedlings at their adopted area in the La Trinidad part of the Busol watershed and conducted weeding and cleaning up of the area as well.

Aside from the DENR, other partners who supported the project include 911-on Call Medical and Rescue Group and employees of the Jollibee and Greenwich. -- Redjie Melvic Cawis
