NAGUILLAN, La Union — Mayor Reynaldo “Bobot”
Flores of this town, who is one of the four alleged narco-politicians
previously named by President Duterte in La Union, vowed during a rally last
Monday to clear his name and reveal the real mastermind behind a “shabu”
laboratory raided by authorities in this town in July, 2008.
Addressing the
so-called unity rally of his supporters at the municipal plaza, here, Flores
said: “We are the ones who busted that facility and we know the story behind
it. But I am the one suffering now. They backfired at me because they lost
billions of drug money.”
The mayor said he
still thanks Duterte for naming him in the list of narco-politicians because it
gives him the opportunity to tell everything he knows about that raided illegal
drug facility in Barangay Bimmotobot back in 2008.
“Because of that shabu
laboratory, my name was dragged in bad light. However, the President made me an
instrument for the reopening of this case to find out the real mastermind on
the shabu laboratory. I am very positive that the truth will come out. The
investigation being done now against me after I was named in the President’s
list already reopened the case,” he said.
Flores said he already
given all the information he knew about the illegal facility which was
contained in his affidavit he submitted to the Criminal Investigation and
Detection Group in Camp Crame last week.
Flores said that aside
from former Police Supt. Dionicio Borromeo, the convicted lab protector, there
are still bigger personalities behind the illegal activity.
“There is a bigger
fish than Borromeo. He is our political enemy and he hates us so much because
we withdrew our support to him,” Flores said.
