3 kids die in road, river accidents

SUAL, Pangasinan - Tragic accidents marked the Halloween holiday with a family of three killed here in a motorcycle accident while  a nine-year-old boy drowning in a river in Nueva Ecija.

In Pangasinan, a speeding armored car sideswiped a motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Seselangen, Sual, killing the rider Joel Ruiz, 31, and his children Dhaisy Rain Ruiz, 4, and Emgin, 3, all of Barangay Pocal-Pocal, Alaminos City.

Fe Ungria, 38, mother of the children, sustained minor injuries, Sual Rescue personnel and barangay officials reported.

Probers said it was the motorcycle which allegedly veered into the lane of the armored car with Plate No. ZHS-299, driven  by security guard Aljourney Fernandez at 11:20 a.m. last Monday.

Meanwhile, nine-year-old Marvin Harmilla Lagutan drowned while swimming with his brothers – Melvin, 11, and Edmar, 10 – in a river in Gen. Tinio, Nueva Ecija, also on Halloween.

Supt. Fe Grenas, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) spokesperson, said river where the boys had a swim at 10:30 a.m. in Barangay Pias was adjacent their village, Barangay Nazareth.
