6 slain, 38 arrested in Central, North drug war

SIX MORE suspected
drug pushers were killed in stings and by suspected vigilantes in Luzon last
week while 38 were arrested.
On Wednesday Russel
Lariosa, Nelson Rosales and Bernard MontaƱez reportedly shot it out with
anti-drug operatives in Barangay First Look in Malolos City;
Albert Lopez, 30,
alias Ambet, a resident of Sitio Dike in Barangay Banga 2nd in Plaridel, and
Michael Reyes, alias Hug, of Tibag in Pulilan were walking in their barangays
when unidentified men opened fire.
Sachets of shabu and
guns were recovered from the fatalities, said Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat,
Bulacan police acting director.
Caramat said the
fatalities were known drug pushers in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, police have
yet to determine if Daycarlo Millare, 39, chairman of Barangay Budac in Tayum,
Abra, who was gunned down by unidentified motorcycle-riding men is a drug
pusher.
Twelve other drug
suspects were arrested in stings in Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan and
Isabela on Wednesday.
On Monday, a drug
suspect was killed while 26 more drug suspects were arrested in stings in
Central and Northern Luzon that day.
Police shot dead
Anthony Hernandez, a resident of Barangay Bambang in Bocaue, Bulacan when he
allegedly drew his gun when he sensed he sold shabu to undercover agents.
Police said 12 sachets
of shabu a .38-caliber revolver and ammunition were recovered from Hernandez.
In Baguio City, police
arrested Anthony T. Orpilla, 33, in his residence at Quezon Elementary
School Compound, Military Cut Off Barangay,
Monday morning for keeping bullets and drug paraphernalia in his house.
Also arrested Monday
in buy-bust operation in nearby La Trinidad, Benguet were Lyndon Renz Chalano Jacinto, 21, laborer
and Emil Rolloda Bernal, 32, technician, drug surrenderee, both of Western
Buyagan.
Both were nabbed at
Poblacion Tuesday evening. Seized from their possession were four sachets
containing suspected shabu, P720 buy-bust money and two cell phones.
The following day
afternoon, two drug suspects identified as Charles Nathaniel Padilla
Ende a.k.a Matias Ende, 23, and Abdul Karim Sabaway Sambitory, 20,
both laborers and residents of Banig, Tawang, La Trinidad, were arrested
in the area.
Confiscated from them
were sachets containing suspected shabu, two cell phones, P30,000 cash and
P1,000 buy-bust money.
Meanwhile, at least
P4.7 million worth of shabu was seized from several suspects also on Monday.
Among those arrested
were Teresita Leonardo, 41, alias Meka, and Danilo Leonardo, 42, of Barangay
Bonga Mayor in Bustos, Bulacan.
At least 841 grams of
shabu with an estimated street value of P3 million, a weighing scale and drug
paraphernalia were recovered from the suspects, police said.
Four barangay
officials, three of them barangay captains, were arrested after sachets of shabu
were reportedly recovered during raids on their residences in Cabiao, Nueva
Ecija on March 26.
The village chiefs
were identified as Armando Esmeralda of Natividad North, Noel Amurao (San
Fernando Sur) and Vladimir Velasquez (San Juan North).
Also arrested was a
certain Eduardo, a barangay councilman.
The raids were based
on warrants issued by a local court.
Dante Aguinaldo, a
pastor of the Church of Christ in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, was collared after a
raid on his house in Barangay Parado yielded a caliber .22 rifle. The raid was
based on a search warrant for illegal drugs.
At least 16 others
were arrested in stings in Bulacan. –Ric Sapnu, Eva Visperas and Raymund
