Tamaraw FX, van collide along Halsema Highway

ATOK, Benguet –
Traveling the Halsema Highway is still dangerous if one is speeding.
Two vehicles nearly met
a near fatal crash at km 35, Topdac, Atok Tuesday around 5:30 p.m., a police
report said.
A police report said the
vehicles were a Toyota FX with plate no. TTY 434 owned and driven Mario
Santilan Labinio, 52, married, farmer, o Bakun, Benguet and a Hi-Ace van with
plate no. VO2742 owned and driven by Christopher Wandalen, 29, married, of
km 4, Asin Road, Baguio City.
Investigation showed
both vehicles were traversing towards Baguio City wherein the Toyota was ahead
of the Hi-Ace. Wandalen gave signal
light honking his horn at the Toyota then overtook it.
At that juncture,
Wandalen noticed two vehicles ahead of him which stopped due to fallen rocks
prompting him to brake but was hit by the Toyota. Both vehicles incurred
undetermined cost of damages. The drivers agreed to settle their case amicably.
