KIANGAN, Ifugao -- More than 300 students and teachers of the Ifugao Academy here learned more about energy efficiency and the programs of Social Security System (SSS) in a forum recently.
SSS-Solano
Branch Manager Romeo Reyes talked on how to become members and the importance
of SSS contributions for the long term benefits. These benefits include
maternity, sickness, disability, retirement and funeral and death benefits.
He also informed that they are
working for a full-time branch office in Lagawe town to serve members in the
province.
Ifugao is
under SSS Solano Branch. The Ifugao service office which opens only every
Tuesday is lodged at the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) office in
Lagawe.
Engineer Yps
Tuguinay of the Ifugao Electric Cooperative discussed energy conservation tips
stressing that gadgets and appliances must be unplugged when not in use.
People should use energy efficient bulbs, appliances and gadgets
to lessen power consumption.
Tuguinay also
explained the types of power interruption. “The scheduled power
interruptions are those being done for maintenance purposes while unscheduled
power outages are caused by events beyond
the control of the electric distribution
utilities either by natural and man-made calamities and other factors,” he
stated.
The activity
ended with a forum wherein the questions are centered mostly on power
interruption, how to efficiently deliver IFELCO’s services, problems on erring
employers and how to continue the stopped contributions of an SSS member.
Principal Ruben Puguon thanked the Philippine
Information Agency and its partner agencies for selecting their school for the
activity which he said increased the knowledge of the participants
about government programs particulary the E-Power Mo campaign of the
Department of Energy and s “Sulit sa SSS” awareness drive. PIA, Ifugao
