Ex-councilor killed, aide hurt in P’sinan shooting

BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan —Police are now
probing the killing of a former councilor of this municipality and wounding of
an administrative aide of Bayambang National High School here at Barangay Zone
2 on Oct. 26.

Police Provincial director, identified the victims as Levin Uy, managing
director of the Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation, a nongovernment
organization and school administrative aide Cesar Salosagcol.
“Kasalukuyang
nagjo-jogging ang dalawa malapit sa dike nang paputukan ang mga ito,” Lopez
told Manila Bulletin. Lopez said they were shot by still unidentified
assailants who fled on foot after the incident.
Uy was a candidate for
councilor in the same town in the May 2019 elections.
An initial police report
said Uy and Salosagcol sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were rushed to the
Bayambang District Hospital for medical treatment.
However, Uy was declared
dead on arrival by the attending physician while Salosagcol was still under
medical operation
Police recovered two
empty cartridges of caliber .45 from the crime scene.
The Bayambang police and nearby police stations
are currently conducting pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the
suspects.
