6 Cordilleran students TOSP national finalists

BAGUIO
CITY-- Six Outstanding Students in the Cordillera Administrative Region (OSCAR)
are among the national finalists of the 57th Ten Outstanding Students of the
Philippines (TOSP).
The TOSP released the
names of the 30 national finalists through its social media page following
the national screening assembly recently at RFM Corporate Center in
Mandaluyong City.
They were selected from
among 79 regional awardees.
TOSP-CAR Board of
Trustee, Dr. Ryan Guinaran, said this year has the most number
of OSCAR alumni who
made as TOSP national finalists since the
program was regionalized.
Last year, three
Cordilleran students were in the national finals. Mark Lorenzo D.
Permalino of Saint Louis University (SLU) was among the 56th TOSP national
awardees.
Among the national
finalists this year are Von Ameri J. Escobar, Bachelor of Secondary Education
from Abra State Institute of Science and Technology; Denmark P. Butic, Bachelor
of Arts in Political Science from Ifugao State University; Alladin A.
BaƱez, Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from the Benguet State
University; Joven C. Wadwachan, Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering
from the Baguio Central University; and Austin Miguelle L. Ogad, Bachelor of
Science in Entrepreneurship and Edgar Christian C. Dirige, Bachelor of Science
in Civil Engineering, both from SLU.
“Great job
Cordillera youth. They exude leadership, social responsibility, academic
excellence and good values,” Guinaran said as he congratulated the six national
finalists from the region.
The national finalists
will undergo formation. Judging of the TOSP is in February 2019 and awarding
will be in April.
The Search for the TOSP
is the Awards and Formation Program established by businessman Jose Concepcion
Jr. as a way of galvanizing the youth into action for social progress. It
honors graduating college students who have not only excelled academically but
have also dedicated themselves to serve their respective communities, organizations,
and other spheres of interaction. It is the domain of dedicated servant-leaders
who have heeded the call of lifelong learning, leading and serving. -- JDP/
