DepEd sets Jan 26 to Feb 4 enrolment sked
>> Monday, January 21, 2019
BAGUIO CITY -- The
Dept. of Education in the Cordillera Administrative Region on Tuesday urged
parents to enroll their children early, to allow the department to properly
prepare for the opening of classes for school year 2019-2020.
“This will
give the school administration and the teachers an idea what to prepare so that
children will immediately start their lessons on the first day of classes in
June,” DepEd-CAR Public Affairs Officer Georaloy Palao-ay said.
He added
early registration this year will start from January 26 up to February 22 in
all public schools in the country. Enrolment can be done Monday until Saturday.
Palao-ay said
early registration will be for incoming kindergarten pupils or those children
who are 5 years old by June 1 and for incoming Grade 7 and Grade 11 students.
He called on
parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten pupils to avail of the early
registration, not only for their convenience and avoid the rush of the peak
enrolment season but also to help the DepEd.
“That is why
we are telling our stakeholders, the parents that if their children are
incoming Kinder, they should avail of the early registration so that we would
know what to prepare for the school opening in June,” he said.
“We have yet
to establish a record for the kinder because it will be the first time that
they will enter the formal education level. It will help a lot if the schools
will have an idea how many they are expecting during the opening of classes,”
he added.
Palao-ay said
in the years of implementing the early registration, more parents are seen
adhering to the call to have their children registered early.
DepEd
Cordillera record shows that for school year 2018-2019, Cordillera has a total
of 420,907 students from kinder to grade 12, with 352,519 enrolled in public
schools and 68,388 in private schools.
The DepEd in
the region is still studying the trend in enrolment population of
students. (PNA)
