Gang head from Besao in bank heists nabbed

CAMP QUIRINO, Ilocos
Sur-One of the alleged leaders of the dreaded "termite gang," was
arrested Tuesday by joint police of Baguio city and Tagudin police.
Senior Supt.
Adolfo Rafanan, new police director here, said Nińo Daguyen, resident of Purok
6, Kias, Baguio City and native of Dandanak, Besao, Mountain Province was
arrested by personnel of Tagudin, Baguio Station 4 and Quirino, Ilocos Sur
police for robbery under Criminal Case 1771-T, issued by Anacleto M. Bañez,
presiding judge of RTC Branch 25, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur on Dec. 5, 2018.
Police said
Daguyen was a member of the newly identified "Termite- Gang"
operating nationwide, known to police as notorious in robbing pawnshops and
banks by digging holes beside or underneath these establishments.
Last year,
Termite Gang members carted away more than P11 million in cash and jewelry in
Batangas city.
Supt.
Wildemar Tiu, chief of the Batangas City Police, identified the suspect in the
Batangas heist as Manuel Banay alias Apoles, 25, of Candon Ilocos Sur who now
resides in Barangay Mabacong, Batangas city and others for allegedly robbing
Golden Sun Emporium Pawnshop at Evangelista St. after they entered the pawnshop
through a hole dug from an adjacent building.
