CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Policemen in Ilocos will take on the role of carpenters as they build classrooms for the region’s school children.
The program dubbed KAPPIA, an Ilokano term for peace that stands for Kalusagan Alay ng Pulis Para sa Iyong Anak.
Col. Patrick Allan, the chief of the Ilocos Police Community Relations Office, said KAPPIA was launched at the Patungcaleo Elementary School, in Quirino, Ilocos Sur, last May 9.
“The lawmen were donned with hardhats and shovels for the groundbreaking ceremony and kick-off on the construction of the classroom facility,” Allan said.
“This significant effort of the police regional office through its mobile force battalion provides huge opportunity for the children of Patungcaleo to enhance their learning capabilities and for the educators to provide the highest quality of education despite its topographical situation, ” said Allan.
Funds for the construction of classroom came from the proceeds of “Run for Peace 2018” initiated by the mobile force battalion in Dagupan City, Pangasinan last December.
