LAOAG CITY, Ilocos
Norte -- A taxi driver here manifested his honesty when he returned a
passenger’s coin purse containing her salary.
According to
driver Arvin Bataan he immediately brought the purse to the Laoag City Police
Station.
“Hindi
ko na binuksan kasi baka may mawala (I didn’t open the purse because something
might go missing),” said Bataan.
Benabeth Tuliao, the owner of the purse,
was shocked when she discovered that her purse
was missing.
She
went back to the mall where she earlier boarded a taxi and felt elated when she
saw Bataan.
Bataan
then escorted Tuliao to the city police station where he brought the purse.
“Nagpapasalamat po
ako sa kanya at sana marami pa syang matulungan, (I am really thankful for him
and I hope he will be able to help more people too)” said Tuliao.
According
to Tuliao, the purse contained her P18,0000 salary.
“Naranasan
ko na kasi mawalan ng pera at iba pang gamit kaya alam ko yung pakiramdam at
may takot ako sa Diyos. Kailangan talagang ibalik ang hindi sa’yo (I know what
it feels like to lose cash and belongings because I already experienced it too
and I also believe that you have to return what isn’t yours, God will know),”
Bataan said.
