 Former PNP official slain in gun attack

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A retired police colonel and former head of the Regional Internal Affairs Service in Cagayan Valley was killed in a gun attack in this city on Wednesday. Cesar Domingo, 62, was driving his car when  he was waylaid by motorcycle-riding men along Campos street at around 5:45 p.m., according to a report received by Lt. Col. George Cablarda.Domingo died at the scene.Probers said the killing could be related to the former police official’s former job.

 ‘Pusher’ using  kids to sell drugs arrested in LT

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet  – An alleged notorious drug distributor and a high-value target was arrested here Monday at Poblacion and jailed selling drugs to an undercover police officer.
The suspect was identified as Rochester Chayao “Betyeng” Dagiw-a, 33, of Buguias, Benguet and resident here of Buyagan, was apprehended at  Poblacion.
Dagiw-a was the subject a social media posts where residents called the attention of police as the suspect was allegedly using minors from schools in distributing drugs in the area. 
Acting on netizens’ complaints, the Benguet Police Provincial Office initiated surveillance and a buy-bust operation was conducted.
Dagiw-a did not resist arrest during the operation as he was trapped. 
Joint personnel of Benguet Provincial Intelligence Branch, La Trinidad MPS Drug Enforcement Unit and members of the Regional Intelligence Division who arrested Dagiw-a seized shabu, P1,000 buy-bust money and Samsung cell phone from the suspect.
Police investigation revealed Dagiw-a sold illegal drugs in La Trinidad, and other parts of Benguet and had been using students in his transactions. 
He was tagged as one of the remaining drug distributors in Buyagan and neighboring towns.
                Dagiw-a is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and he is now for inquest proceedings.
Police urged the public is encouraged to be vigilant and replicate the initiative of the person who uploaded the suspect’s reported criminal activities. 

25 Cagayan Valley cop chiefs sacked for poor performance

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela — Twenty-five chiefs of police in Cagayan Valley region have been relieved from their posts due to poor performance, the Regional Police Office 2 (PRO-2) said.
Aside from the 25 officials, also relieved last week were a provincial mobile force commander, two office staff and two deputy chiefs, according to Brig. Gen. Angelito Casimiro, Cagayan Valley police director.   
Among those relieved were the chiefs of police in the municipalities of Aurora, Burgos, Cordon, Divilacan, Delfin Albano, Jones, Luna, Quezon, Quirino, San Agustin, San Mariano and Sta. Maria, all in Isabela as well as Abulog, Baggao, Ballesteros, Calamaniugan, Gattaran, Pamplona, Piat, Sanchez Mira and Sta. Ana, all in Cagayan.  
The dismissal was based on a performance evaluation conducted by the Philippine National Police and upon the recommendations of the PRO-2 senior officers placement and promotion board as well as of the oversight committee.           

Three dead in Bulacan multiple-vehicle crash

BOCAUE, Bulacan -- At least three people were killed after a sports utility vehicle rammed through several vehicles along McArthur Highway here on Monday.
A report of GMA News TV live said six others were hurt from the incident while a dzBB radio report said two people are under critical condition after the crash.
Another report said four were killed from the incident and ten others were injured.
According to a television report, initial investigation of the Bocaue Police determined that the SUV bumped into a vehicle before it plowed through several other vehicles while the driver was trying to escape from the first road mishap.
This then caused the vehicular smashups on the road.
The accident is currently being investigated by the authorities. — Rosette Adel

2 criminology students drown in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — Two criminology students drowned as they were swimming with two others in Barangay Bonuan Gueset in this city on Monday.
One of the victims’ classmates survived and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Another was reported missing.
Police said Mark Christian Cruz, 18, of Manaoag, Pangasinan, was declared dead on arrival at the Decena Hospital.
The body of Daniel John Matias o    f Dasol town was retrieved yesterday morning.
Probers have yet to find Joebert Versoza of Lingayen.
The survivor, identified as Chris Russell Manuel, 18, of Camiling, Tarlac, is confined at the Region 1 Medical Center. 
Initial investigation showed the four visited a classmate, who is residing in the area, before they decided to go for a swim.  The victims were reportedly carried away by the strong current.
