CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan here approved the accreditation of 26 Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) giving them legal entity to partner with government on development tasks and opportunity  to become member of local mandated councils.
Vice Gov. Dave Odiem said the provincial government needs representatives from CSOs in local mandated councils like the Local Health and School Board, Provincial Development Council and other special bodies.
He said even cooperatives have to seek recognition since they are the usual repository or beneficiaries of assistance from government agencies particularly financial and credit assistance, and agricultural production support.
Requirements for accreditation include  duly accomplished application for accreditation; board resolution; certificate of registration; list of current officers and members; original sworn statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer or equivalent officer of the CSO, stating that the CSO is an independent, non-partisan organization and that it will retain its autonomy while pursuing the advancement of the people’s interest through its membership in a local special body.
Others are annual accomplishment report; financial statement, profile indicating the purpose and objectives of the organization, copy of minutes of meetings; and photocopy of profiles of at least three individuals in the organization that will verify their involvement in education or health services for those CSOs applying to be members of the Local School Board or Health Board.
