BAGUIO CITY – The provinces of Kalinga, Apayao and Mountain Province are still clear of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Department of Health in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR) said.
As of noon on April 30, the DOH-CAR in its social media account showed that the three provinces remain to have zero confirmed Covid-19 cases.
However, there are suspected cases in Apayao with 86; Kalinga with 87 and Mountain Province with 93.
Meanwhile, possible cases in Apayao are 1,401; Kalinga with 1,573 and Mountain Province with 2,216.
The three provinces are included in the list of areas in the country whose status will shift from enhanced to general community quarantine by May 1.
Dr. Amelita Pangilinan earlier said the three provinces have been able to be Covid-19-free as they continue to implement a no-entry policy for non-residents, urging those stranded in other places to stay where they are.
Good contact tracing was also viewed as another factor, allowing the health officials to place on home or hospital quarantine the suspected cases to contain the disease from spreading.
The CAR has recorded a total of 42 cases since the start of the monitoring.
Baguio has the most confirmed cases with 29, followed by Benguet with nine, Abra has three and Ifugao with one.
Out of the number, 23 are admitted in hospitals, 18 have already recovered and one died. (PNA)
