8 Baguio family members get C-19 from elderly kin

BAGUIO CITY – Eight members of a family, including three minors, were afflicted with Covid-19 after reportedly getting the disease from one of their relatives here.
They and five patients comprised the new Covid-19 cases for this city that were recorded on Sept. 7.
City Information Officer Aileen Refuerzo said a total of 13 new cases were logged as well as five recoveries. 
Eight of the new cases were relatives and had close contact with a 79 year-old-female, who tested symptomatic last Sept. 6.
The eight closed contact of confirmed case from Santo Tomas barangay were a six-month-old male, a one-year-old female, a six-year-old male, a 21-year-old male, a 44-year-old female, a 24-year-old female, a 34-year-old female, and an 84-year-old male.
The other five new patients were symptomatic.
They were an 81-year-old female, a 25-year-old male, a 66-year-old female, a 47-year-old female, and a 22-year-old male.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the city’s anti-Covid-19 systems on prevention, detection, control and treatment will continue to be in place and will be adjusted or improved as needed.
He urged residents to continue doing their part in cooperating with the authorities by observing strictly all the health and safety protocols for their own and their family’s protection amid the easing up of quarantine rules in the city.
He advised families “to be mindful of our health standards and protocols when outside and inside their homes. 
“When at home, wash your hands and change your clothes before you spend time with your family, disinfect your door knobs and other frequently touched surfaces in the home, avoid sharing utensils and monitor each other for flu-like symptoms,” Magalong added.
For the first week of September, Baguio City recorded three cases on Sept. 1, 12 on Sept. 2, five on Sept. 3, five on Sept. 4, none on Sept. 5, five on Sept. 6, and 13 on Sept. 7.
As of Sept. 7, the city had a total of 397 confirmed cases, 91 active, 286 recoveries and 10 deaths.
