BAGUIO CITY – The regional steering committee technical working group on the search for outstanding volunteers led by National Economic Development Authority Cordillera staff listed over 60 submissions for the 2020 National Search for Outstanding Covid-19 volunteers.
With the call of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency for national nominees, NEDA-CAR aims to nominate up to three volunteers for the national award and recognize more volunteers at the regional level.
The submissions include volunteers in food preparation, packing, and distribution, assistance in the distribution of Social Amelioration Program (SAP) aid, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) preparation and distribution, volunteer activity coordination, information dissemination, data encoding and management, health consultations, among other relief assistance.
Nominees were evaluated on: number and type of beneficiaries, duration of volunteer work, commitment to volunteerism, motivation for volunteering, and difficulty of volunteer work. The period covered is March to September 2020 like peak of the nationwide community lockdown.
PNVSCA, an attached agency of NEDA, aims to recognize individuals who have contributed their own personal time and resources in contributing to the Covid-19 response. It is hoped that the recognition of these individuals would
help promote good practices in responding to the pandemic and encourage the spirit of volunteerism among the citizens of the country. The most outstanding volunteers for the regional and national levels will be announced in December 2020.
