Baguio sets pilot test of Covid-19 vaccines

BAGUIO CITY – The city will be procuring freezers to preserve vaccines that will be made available by the national government for the pilot testing of the same to some 20 to 30 percent of this tourism resort’s population.
    Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong said the local government is verifying volume of vaccines that could be stored by the freezers once the vaccines will arrive in the country and turned over to the city for testing of vaccination.
    He said the city government will procure freezers capable of storing the Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 vaccines from negative 2 to negative 8 degrees Celsius and similar freezers with a storage capacity of negative 40 up to negative 80 degrees Celsius as there are vaccines that need to be stored at the aforesaid freezing points.
    Baguio City was included as one of pilot sites for Covid-19 vaccination wherein frontliners, uniformed personnel, among others will be priority for vaccination.
    The mayor said the counterpart of the local government once the vaccines will be made available was storage facilities.
    He said the city government will immediately procure storage facilities.
    The mayor said for the vaccines from China, the freezers having a negative 2 to negative 8 freezing point will be able to store vaccines.
