TABUK CITY, Kalinga – City Mayor Darwin C. Estranero has issued executive order 06, series 2021 placing the entire city under 14-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from Jan. 25 to Feb. 7 to contain transmission of Covid-19.
The order was issued following report from the City Health Office showing 14 of the 43 barangays were Covid-19 critical zones with at least  five  clustered cases in every  three  puroks per barangay.
Estranero said the city recorded 550 confirmed Covid-19 cases and  three deaths as of Jan. 24.
The city’s isolation facilities were full with more than a hundred active cases recorded.
Under the ECQ period, public transport was restricted to limit movement of people except to frontliners, authorized persons outside residence and those allowed for essentials.
Business operation was regulated but delivery of food, medicines and other essentials was unhampered, while mass gathering was not allowed. Curfew was imposed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
City Schools Division superintendent Irene Angway reported public schools were able to distribute ahead modules for the 2-week lockdown while some private schools opted to temporarily suspend distribution of modules.
Estranero urged residents to cooperate and strictly follow health protocols. -- PIA Kalinga
