DTI confers Bagwis Award to 2 consumer- friendly Bontoc shops

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Two business establishments in this capital town were cited for upholding rights and welfare of consumers while doing business where consumers get the best value for their money.
Rio Chico Marketing and Georfitz Dry Goods Trading were both conferred with Bronze Bagwis Award of the Dept. of Trade and Industry after they passed evaluation by the National Bagwis certification committee.
Rio Chico with its proprietor Jennifer Basco is engaged in computer, cellphones and Information Technology (IT) supplies while Georfitz Dry Goods Trading sell house wares, decors and appliances.
It is owned and managed by Georgia Bugnay.
Rio Chico with its proprietor Basco received certificate of recognition and Bagwis seal of excellence from officer-in-charge Mabel Banggawan of the DTI provincial office, Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen and Sangguniang Bayan member John Enngeg May 17 at Bontoc Municipal Capitol.
According to Banggawan, the Bagwis program was started by the DTI to give due recognition to establishments that uphold rights of consumers while practicing responsible business.
She said award has three levels --gold, silver and bronze depending on the criteria met by the businesses.
Rio Chico and Georfitz Dry Goods Trading who were both conferred with bronze Bagwis Award have complied with fair trade laws, provide exemplary customer services and promote the welfare of their employees.
Banggawan added there were other business establishments in Bontoc that were conferred with the Bagwis Award the previous years.
