BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: Fourteen drug offenders have successfully finished their one-month reformation program conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the Balay Silangan in Lasam town in Cagayan province.
In a ceremony on Tuesday, PDEA Region 2 cited the contributions of various government agencies and local government units to the program.
The event was also attended by the newly installed Police Regional Office 2 director BGen. Steve Ludan and heads of other government agencies.
Kenedy Yang, one of the graduates, said the program made him realize how precious life is.
"This reformation program is a great help for us who once deviated from the right path of life because we realized that the life given by the Lord is very important and it should not be ruined by drugs and any wrongdoing," Yang said.
The Balay Silangan is a temporary shelter for drug offenders on their way back to becoming law-abiding members of society.
According to the Department of Health, the facility which it supervises is an alternative intervention for drug personalities who are not users and are not eligible to undergo medical treatment and rehabilitation.

Yang said they have learned a lot in life and are very thankful for the program urging his fellow reformists to "not go back to our old ways."
Meanwhile, Ludan urged other drug offenders to take advantage of the said program.
"Please do not delve into things that will only ruin your future and life," he said.
