Baguio modified liquor ban set against Covid

>> Friday, August 6, 2021

BAGUIO CITY – This summer capital is now implementing a modified liquor ban. Mayor Benjamin Magalong urged residents to follow the modified liquor ban as part of the measures against Covid-19 and its more transmissible Delta variant.
The modified liquor ban is in effect from 10 p.m.to 10 a.m. pursuant to executive order 51 series of 2021, or revised general community quarantine (GCQ) guidelines, adapted in April 10.
The consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed if incidental to dining in duly-inspected food and beverage retail establishments.
The drinkers are only allowed to consume four individual servings of beer, wine or cocktails per diner or two bottles per table shared by two or more people where the volume of the beverage does not exceed one liter.
A maximum of one bottle per shared table of two or more people is also allowed where the volume thereof exceeds one liter
The city government imposed the measure to guard citizens against the more contagious and more severe variant of Covid-19 that originated in and caused catastrophic effect in India and is now causing havoc in neighboring countries Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
Among the strategies adopted by the city government is tighter control over the use and sale of liquor as drinking sprees were previously identified as the source of some outbreaks in the city.
Baguio residents are also encouraged to report violators to the authorities. Fines and penalties will be slapped against those who will violate the regulation.
