BINALONAN, Pangasinan -- The Alyansang Guico-Lambino (Aguila) of Fifth District Rep. Ramon Guico 3rd and Vice Gov. Mark Lambino was launched July 24, formally announcing their bid for the province's two highest posts.
During a meeting with some of the province's top officials and barangay (village) leaders at the WCC Aeronautical and Technological College here, Guico said they were putting together a team that will bring development to the province.
He said Pangasinan was once the number two developing province in the country after Cebu, but has fallen to sixth place under the present leadership.
In a ceremony where they also pushed for Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to seek the presidency in May 2021, the Aguila duo said the best course is to bring "progressive thinking leaders" like them to the highest provincial offices to jumpstart progress in the province.
"I will take the challenge. I will run for governor," said Guico, as his father and town mayor Ramon Jr. watched at the presidential table.
Former representative Ranjit R. Shahani, son of the late senator Leticia and nephew to former president Fidel V. Ramos, also joined the group.
Guico will challenge incumbent Governor Amado Espino III in the gubernatorial race. It is not certain yet who Espino’s running mate is.
With Guico and Lambino in the launching of the AGuiLa were former Representatives Arthur Celeste (first district) and Mark Cojuangco (fifth district), Abono Party-list Representative Conrado Estrella III, Bayambang Mayor Cesar Quiambao, and Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico Jr.
It was attended by leaders and supporters from the third to the sixth districts of Pangasinan.
At the same event, the Ulopan na Aguila ed Pangasinan also launched the manifesto urging Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for President in next year’s presidential elections.
Lambino said
they are batting for the continuity of the accomplishments and programs
instituted by her father, President Rodrigo Duterte.
