Cagayan Valley: 34 new deaths,1,007 Covid cases

TUGUEGARAO CITY—A total of 34 new deaths and 1,007 new
Covid-19 cases were recorded early in Cagayan Valley while 385 new recoveries
were listed, the Dept. of Health-Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development
said on Monday. Active cases rose to 8,358 while cumulative recoveries reached
68,272 and fatalities at 2,261.
Cagayan still topped the list of active cases with 4,684 while Isabela had 2,452; Santiago City has 256; Nueva Vizcaya has 538; Quirino has 427; and Batanes has one case.
Hospitals in Cagayan Valley have been nearing full capacity with 88 percent of the intensive care unit beds utilized.
Representatives of the health sector asked for more time to implement stricter measures to address the spike in Covid-19 cases and critical health care utilization rate.
Tuguegarao City recorded seven cases of the highly infectious Delta variant recently.
Tuguegarao has been under ECQ since Aug. 12.
Mayor Carmelo Villacete of Piat said the regional IATF also approved their recommendation to place the town under ECQ from Aug. 29 to Sept. 11.
The town logged 128 active cases two weeks ago with 20 deaths.
Baggao and Solana were recently placed under ECQ.
