Man shoots 3 in Baguio; pursued in high-speed chase, killed in crash


BAGUIO CITY -- A man was killed here in a vehicle crash after cops chased him in a high-speed chase.
    This, after he shot three men here at Barangay MRR-Queen of Peace and fled to Naguilian Road in Quezon Hill  night of Aug. 29.
    Killed was Rubillo Balmonte Distor, 47, jeepney driver and resident of here of Barangay MRR-Queen of Peace.
    The victims were identified as Bernard Aglaba Carbonell, 45; Peter Carbonell Salvador, 47, single, construction worker; and     Niño Boy Arellano Carbonell, 35, all residents of MRR-Queen of Peace.
    Police  said the suspect, who came home from a birthday party, approached the victims and had a heated argument with Carbonell.
    The suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at the victims and fled on board his vehicle.
    Responding policemen pursued the fleeing suspect, who figured in the fatal accident along Naguilian Road.
    The victims were immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center and were now recuperating from injuries.
    Bernard sustained a gunshot wound in his chest and underwent an operation.
    Peter also sustained a gunshot wound in his left foot while Niño Boy suffered two gunshot wounds on his feet.

3 in top Cordillera drug list held; P54-K shabu seized by cops

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Three persons, all listed as top 10 drug personalities in Cordillera, were arrested in separate operations in Kalinga and Baguio City on Aug. 27.
    Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Oliver Lee identified the suspects as Rodante Diaz Lopez aka "Odan," 40; Joy Batore         Agustin, 34 and Carlo Buliyat Cruz aka “Amiel Karl Buliyat Cruz,” 35.
    In Lower Magsaysay, Baguio City, police and regional intelligence division personnel arrested Agustin after she sold to a lawman a sachet of suspected shabu weighing around two worth P13,600.
    Still, in Baguio at Military Cut-off, Lopez was arrested by cops after he reportedly sold suspected shabu worth P6,800 also to a cop.
    In Tabuk City, Kalinga, police implemented a search warrant issued by Judge Jerson E. Angog which led to the arrest of Cruz. 
    Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were five sachets containing suspected shabu weighing five grams valued at P34,000.
    Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) were filed against the suspects.
 

Boy, 6, dies after bitten by cobra

ASINGAN, Pangasinan — A six-year-old boy died after he was bitten by a cobra in Barangay Carusucan Norte in this town on Aug. 29.
    Police investigation showed Leonard Beltran had just eaten lunch and was having siesta with his father when a cobra appeared from their window and bit the boy in the head.
    The boy was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
    The father of the victim and their neighbors killed the cobra, which was later found hiding in a hole near their house.
 

Utility worker held for gun, scandal in Abra

LAGAYAN, Abra – Cops arrested a utility worker here for alarm and scandal and violation of Republic act 10591 (illegal firearms law) on August 23.
    Suspect Ronald Calayeg Valera, 32, of Barangay Poblacion, was reported by a concerned citizen saying he was drunk and making disturbance and brandishing a firearm.
    Responding police saw Valera on board his motorcycle with a Cal. 45 handgun protruding on his waist.
    When asked to present documents for the gun loaded with a bullet, he failed to show any which prompted cops to arrest him.
    The firearm was brought to the Crime Laboratory of Lagayan while the suspect was brought to the town police sdtati9on where charges were prepared against him.

 
Three men nabbed in 
Baguio for marijuana

BAGUIO CITY – Three men were recently arrested here for illegal possession of marijuana.
    Two persons were arrested for illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation here at Upper Camdas on August 22.
Police named suspects as Jonathan ClaveriaDela Cruz, 23 and Marc DulaganDaplayan, 19, both residents of Middle Quirino Hill.
    The suspects were arrested after they sold to a lawman dried marijuana leaves worth P5,000.
    During their arrest, recovered from their possession were  two sachets containing suspected dried marijuana leaves valued at P1,500, buy-bust money and two cell phones used in the transaction.
    Inventory of confiscated items were done on site in the presence of the suspect and witnessed by prosecutor Sigrid LacwasanCanawil, barangay kagawad Eduardo Cantala of Camdas, and Charles Nico Limon of RNG Luzon.
    The pieces of evidence were brought to Baguio City Crime Laboratory Office while a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was prepared against arrested suspects.
    Meanwhile, a vendor was arrested by Naguilian Road Police Station cops after he was caught in possession of dried marijuana leaves at Queen of Peace on August 21.
    The suspect was identified as Robert SadinoOnarosa, 24  of Central Fairview.
    The suspect was arrested after he approached one of the personnel manning the lockdown area at the Queen of Peace to sell his power tools but when he is about to pull out said power tools from his sling bag, a transparent sachet containing suspected dried marijuana weighing three grams worth P1,000 fell on the ground.
    Another suspected rolled dried marijuana weighing worth P500 was recovered from his possession.
Inventory of confiscated items were done on site in the presence of the suspect and witnessed by prosecutor Sigrid LacwasanCanawil, punong barangay Raul Caronongan and Janice Denis of BomboRadyo. 
a case for illegqal drugs was prepared against Onarosa.

15 gamblers nabbed in Cordillera raids

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Fifteen persons were arrested for illegal gambling in Abra, Baguio City and Kalinga last week, Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Oliver Lee bared.
    Arrested in Bangued, Abra were Feliciano F. Requino, 68; Alberto V. Queza, 57; Melina A. Astudillo, 47 and Angelina G. Castillo, 60.
    They were caught playing "pusoy."
    In Kalinga, seven persons were arrested for soliciting jueteng bets following complaints from legitimate operators of Small Town Lottery (STL).
    Nabbed were Grace A. Agnaya, 42; Ronie L. Baruzo, 39; Denver B. Mocay, 40; Elmer A. Cacatian, 37; May T. Babalan aka 'Bebang' and BensionDacio.
    In Baguio City, implementation of search warrant issued by Judge Mervin Jovito S Samadan, acting executive Judge of regional trial court branch 40 resulted in the arrest of Jaime Aromin Perez, 62; Cesar BalaoLigpit, 50; Rommel CarinoCayat, 53; Pablito Caro Gavino, 65; and ErbiBinagOrdino, 53.
    All were charged for violation of presidential decree 1602 (illegal gambling

Baguio laborer held for shabu

BAGUIO CITY – A laborer was arrested here in a buy-bust operation here at Barangay San Carlos Heights on August 21.
    The suspect was identified as Christ John M. Quitoriano, 29, single, resident of Gabriela Silang.
    Quitoriano allegedly sold to a cop suspected shabu weighing P6,800.
    Seized from his possession were more shabu worth P3,400, buy-bust money, cell phone and motorcycle used in the transaction.
    Inventory was seized items was witnessed by punong barangay Arthur Carlos of Irisan, media representative Charles Nikko Limon and prosecutor Sigrid Canawil.
    Charges for illegal drugs were prepared against Quitoriano.
