LUNA, Apayao – Gov.
Eleanor Bulut-Begtang urged Apayao folks to be more vigilant and adhere to
minimum public health standards as two more cases of the more
contagious Covid-19 Delta variant were recorded in the province.
The Apayao Provincial Inter Agency Task Force received a notification from the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health – Cordillera on the detection of two new Covid-19 delta variant cases based on the specimen submitted for genome sequencing by the Philippine Genome Center.
The new cases are from the municipality of Luna and have been declared as fully recovered as of the third week of August.
The province earlier recorded three Delta variant cases in Pudtol, and all recovered.
Begtang said that the PIATF and municipal IATF are implementing measures to contain and prevent the spread of the virus which include the aggressive contact tracing of individuals who have had interactions and contact with the confirmed delta variant cases and the swab testing of the contacts.
The DOH-CAR on Sept. 5 reported 13 new delta variant cases in the Cordillera with seven from Baguio City, two from Apayao, and one each in Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, and Kalinga.
There were three returning overseas Filipinos (ROF) from Cordillera that were confirmed as delta cases with two from Abra and the other from Baguio City. They are not, however, considered as Cordillera cases as they are registered in the ROF registry.
To date, the Cordillera recorded 25 delta cases with 12 from Baguio City, five each from Apayao and Benguet, and one each from Abra, Ifugao and Kalinga. -- JDP/RMC- PIA CAR
