LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A
month-long set of events have been set for the annual Adivay Festival 2021 in
celebration of the 121st Benguet foundation anniversary.
The traditional grand canao and other fanfare will however be omitted this year in compliance to Covid-19 health and safety protocols.
Gov. Melchor Diclas said the celebration this year will be part of the recovery process of the province and the people of Benguet while still facing challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This will showcase that people should learn to live with the situation.”
Diclas said activities will be limited and restricted and most traditional activities are suspended for public safety.
Suspended events include the placement of booths featuring the products and people of each municipality, trade fairs, concerts, horseback competition and riding, among others.
Adivay festivities kicked off Nov. 8, with an ecumenical service followed by program at capitol grounds.
On Nov. 23, which is the Benguet Foundation Day, traditional rituals geared towards healing and recovery will be held at the Benguet Sports Center Gymnasium.
