Cordillera 'moderate risk' for Covid-19 transmission

BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Administrative Region is now under moderate risk classification for coronavirus transmission, posting a low two-week growth rate of -47 percent, the Dept. of Health said.
    The DOH epidemic classification report released Monday showed that only two provinces in the region -- Apayao and Mountain Province -- remain under high risk for posting a 5 percent and 1 percent two-week growth rate, respectively.
    Baguio City posted a -62 two-week growth rate while the provinces of Abra registered -29 percent; Benguet, -39; Ifugao, -23 and Kalinga, -62 and are under moderate risk.
    The Cordillera Region logged 121 new infections and 992 recoveries.
    For active Covid-19 cases, Benguet has 2,617; Baguio City, 876; Ifugao, 567; Kalinga, 300; Apayao, 182 and Abra with 104.
    The number of Covid-19 cases in the region continues to drop, with only 5,870 active cases recorded Monday.
    The region's hospital care utilization rate is at low risk at 36.10 percent.
    The region's trend follows the decline of new coronavirus infections nationwide.
    On February 7, the country's cases have further dropped to 6,835, a significant drop from Sunday's 8,361 fresh infections. -- PNA
