57 wanted persons nabbed in Cordillera

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Fifty seven wanted individuals in Cordillera were arrested by police May 22 to May 28 in the region.
    Based on records of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, Baguio City Police Office PO had the highest number of arrests with 26 wanted personalities, followed by Kalinga PPO with 12; Benguet, nine; Ifugao, five; Abra and Apayao with two arrests each and Mountain Province with one.
Eleven, listed as most wanted persons were arrested, with four listed provincial level; two, municipal; one, city and four at station level.
    At the Provincial Level, Julio Okao, Vicente Salibad, and Richard Diwayan, listed as No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively, were arrested for murder.
    All were arrested by Kalinga police.
    John Miranda, listed as No. 8, was arrested for homicide by Benguet police.
    At municipal level, Cesar Angoluan, listed no. 1, was arrested by Ifugao police for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, while Adrian Dave Tagura, listed no. 5, was arrested by Abra police for violation of Republic Act 8353 or Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
    At city level, Michaelangelo Impel, listed no. 2, was arrested by Baguio police for rape and sexual abuse or RA 7610.
    At station level, Jacob Tan, listed no. 6 was arrested for theft through falsification of commercial documents; Armi Liguid, listed no. 7; Marilyn Mateo and Mario Liguid, both listed as no. 8 were nabbed for estafa by Baguio police.


Village chief, two others survive Cagayan ambush 


TUGUEGARAO CITY––A village chief and his two companions survived an ambush May 29, in Baggao town, Cagayan province.
    Capt. Isabelita Gano, Cagayan police spokesperson, identified the victims as Nanguilattan village chief Bonifacio Cuarteros, Henry Bulliig and Edmundo Sambo, all of Peñablanca town, in Cagayan.

    The unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men, who sped off after the attack, reportedly wore black jackets and bonnets.
    Initial investigation showed Cuarteros and his companions had just left the Baggao Cockpit Arena aboard a car when attacked.
    The back rider repeatedly shot them but missed.
    Investigators recovered five spent shells of unknown gun caliber.
