Pole hits Tuba power line; 2 laborers electrocuted, 2 hurt

TUBA, Benguet — Two
laborers were killed while two others were injured after they were electrocuted
while installing an internet pole here at Proper Camp 3, Kennon Road Wednesday
afternoon.
Killed were Baguio City residents Joseph Panoy Vallejos, 55, resident of 52A Interior C, Balacbac, Sto. Tomas Proper, and Lorimer Dela Cruz Ruazol, a.k.a “lollipop”, 40, of 95 Interior C, Balacbac, Sto. Tomas Proper;
Injured were Benzar Casiano Vicente, 24, a native of Roxas, Isabela, and a resident of Bengao and Randy Lapitan Leonen, 41, of No. 118, Purok 6, Irisan, who both suffered body burns.
A Tuba Municipal Police Station report that was based on the statement of Efren Martes, 51, of Balacbac, Baguio City, the four laborers were electrocuted as the post they were installing on the side of the road accidentally touched the primary line of the Benguet Electric Cooperative.
Like Martes, the four victims were employees of Converge Internet Company.
The emergency vehicle of Barangay Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet responded immediately and rushed the four victims to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, but the two of them were declared dead on arrival.
Vicente sustained burns on his left hand and foot, while Leonen suffered burns on his face.
The two allegedly suffered tremors while being treated at the hospital.
