Truck flips in Tuba, P1.4 marijuana found, 2 transporters nabbed

TUBA, Benguet -- Two persons were arrested when marijuana worth P1.4 million they were transporting were accidentally discovered by cops who went to their rescue after their vehicle turned turtle July 3 at Sitio Camp 6, Barangay Camp 4, Tuba, Benguet.
    The drug suspects were identified as Jemssie Galang Salazar from Bacoor, Cavite and Justin Jerome Baisa, a resident of San Mateo, Rizal.
    According to Tuba Police, the two were headed to the National Capital Region traversing Marcos Highway when the pick-up vehicle they were on board lost its brakes.
    The vehicle bumped the edge of the highway and turned turtle in the middle of the road.
    Police near the area rushed to the scene to give aid to the passengers.
    The two suspects, who managed to get out of their vehicle, reportedly put a carton box at the edge of the road.
    Reports said when police were at the scene and while they were at the aid of the two, the box accidentally fell and its contents were exposed.
    Police discovered 12 tubular forms of dried marijuana leaves which resulted in the apprehension of the suspects.
    A report by the regional police information office said when police arrived at the scene, a resident of the place told them a box was thrown on the cliff by the two suspects.
    Upon checking, 12 tubes of dried marijuana leaves weighing more or less 12,000 grams with a standard drug price of P1,440,000 were discovered by police which prompted the immediate arrest of the two suspects, the report said.
    They were brought to the temporary lock-up jail of the Tuba Municipal Police Station after receiving medical treatment.
    Markings and inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence recovered were conducted at the site in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by Barangay Kagawad Domingo Wayan of Camp Four and Dionisio Dennis Jr., media representative.
