Earthquake damage cost in Abra reaches P316M

BANGUED, Abra -- The initial estimated cost of damage in Abra due to the 7-magnitude earthquake was pegged at P316,574,582, the latest report by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office showed Thursday, July 28.
    Government facilities (except for the Dept. of Education buildings), equipment, and water systems were most affected, with a the total cost of damage reaching P137,891,888.
    Infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and commercial buildings, suffered P105,614,500 damage.
    The estimated loss incurred by the agricultural sector was P7,360,950.
    The PDRRMO said the earthquake left at least P88,950,444 worth of damage to houses in the province.
    Data showed the temblor destroyed 92 houses and damaged 7,889 others in Abra.
    At least 17,571 families, or 70,565 individuals, were affected by the earthquake, while 1,548 families remained in evacuation centers.
    The PDRRMO said 12 major landslides were reported in Bucloc, Daguioman, Luba, Malibcong, Manabo, San Quintin, Tineg, and Tubo towns.
    Abra reported one fatality, 156 injured, and four missing due to the earthquake. INQ
