13 nabbed, P30 million drugs seized in Baguio, Benguet, Apayao

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Eleven persons were nabbed for illegal drugs were arrested while more than P30 million worth of marijuana and shabu were confiscated by police and anti-narcotics agents last week.
    In Baguio City, latest to be arrested were two in a buy-bust operation here at Barangay Alfonso Tabora Oct. 29.
    Police named suspects as Kyle Quiambao Cariño, 23 and Darvin Jason Magaoay Della, 25.
    Cariño and Della were arrested by Pacdal police after they sold five sachets of suspected marijuana leaves weighing around 34.9 grams worth P4,188.00.
    Inventory of confiscated items was witnessed by prosecutor Genevieve Ayochok, Christopher Bartolo, media representative and kagawad Oliver Tubera of Alfonso Tabora.
    The suspects and seized items were brought to Pacdal Police Station where charges were prepared against the suspects.
Early last week, Baguio police arrested six drug suspects while the Kalinga Police Provincial Office nabbed three and the Apayao Police Provincial Office apprehended two during a series of anti-drug operations in the past week.
    Arrested in Baguio were Kyle Cariño, 23; Darvin Jason Della, 25; Cristina Escopete, 35; Steven Donne, 27; Jason Prodon, 32; and a 17-year-old minor.
    In Kalinga, the arrested individuals were identified as Raechelle Kitongan Canao, 29; Augusto Binuloc Gunnawa, 38; and Arnel Langao Wadwad, 26.
    In Apayao, the arrested individuals were identified as Rosemarie Guitierrez, 27; and Silvino Likigan Calawag, 60.
    A total of 44.293 grams of suspected shabu, 206,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks, and 120 ml of marijuana oil valued at P24,794,060 were also confiscated
    All arrested suspects are now facing charges for illegal drugs.
    In Benguet, nine marijuana plantation sites were discovered in the municipalities of Kibungan and Bakun.
    Elements of 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company and Special Action Force confiscated 29,020 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P5,984,000 and 4,500 marijuana seedlings valued at P180,000.

5 die in Ilocos vehicle mishap

PIDDIG, Ilocos Norte -- Five persons died in a vehicular accident here night of Oct. 30.
    Eduardo Burgos together with his children LJ, 16, and Liam, 8, and Tranquilino Burgos and his wife Zenaida were on their way home in Barangay 20, Sarrat when their tricycle collided with a car in Barangay Ab-abut.
    The victims reportedly came from a wake in nearby Barangay Calambeg town.
    Eduardo, Tranquilino and Zenaida died at the scene while LJ and Liam were declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
    Probers have yet to identify the driver of the car.
